i never get upset where strippers are considered :giggle:

Hi Steve,

I really regret selling mine mate, the BMW is a nice car but the Octavia really made me feel alive!

I think that for £7K you are better off keeping it unless you really need the money.

On the price, I dont think that what you are asking for it is too much. Mine went for £4000 and it had similar mods to yours has apart from the 1.9 engine even and bigger turbo (mine was IHI), and it was on 116K (new turbo)

Although it did have the full leather A3 interior and some decent Ice including a double din sat nav unit.

£7K is not bad at all for yours although I think the biggest problem is finding someone who wants somthing like this. Mine was agressively up for sale for 8 weeks before it went. Also insurance was a nightmare to sort out each year.

Basically owning a heavily modded car is like having a large dog, you need to adjust your life around it needs. That was why i ended up selling :(

I want dibs on the gearbox if you strip it :)

Ron ive not drove the octavia in 5 months since i blew the gearbox up and the drivers front shockers died, its nearly finished now with brand new suspension, low mileage gearbox, just need to fit a driveshaft and tax it and can go abusing porsche's again :D

That actually makes me feel better now, obviously gutted for you though mate ;) I had that feeling that having spent nearly £2K on bringing her up to standard, maybe I had sold without getting to enjoy it......

Seriously though, what were you doing to blow the box up? I think Quenten had only put a new box in it already? that would now make this gearbox number 3!!

Might be worth seeing if you can source a 6 speed?

Could not agree more 6 speed tdi box is the way to go 300bhp and over on the 5 speed box is boarderline for torque

Steve

speednut why only 320 bhp from the gt2871??? didnt you want anymore or is there other reasons?? i thought this turbo is good for over 350bhp

Depends on the manifold and a host of other things mate.

Seems plenty of room for kids in mine. Though the boy is only 4(as tall as a 5/6 year old) and girl only 1, no space issues. :)

Guess it might be compromised with older kids but not babies and toddlers.

Fitted a low mileage box to it, 63k miles the box has done so should last a while.

Think of selling up soon anyways, fancy a new shape VRS and now ive just seen the green one on here i think its just sold me.

I have got to go back down to Shark for some more tweaking but have not had the chance yet she is running a bit rich at the moment and Ben wanted me to put a few miles under her belt to let everything settle down

... chopping in the vRS for a (V10) S6 Avant....

If you have reached that point where the car no longer provides fun, and you're spending more time worrying that somethings going to go wrong etc, then maybe its time to call it a day.

If you haven't reached that point, then don't sell.

Unless you're properly upgrading

TBH the V10 S6 is not an upgrade from the driving point of view. Utterly slated in the car press. Horrific oversteer, weight balance, and only 213bhp/tonne. Since its N/A very little 'easy' tuning potential.

I think you need to separate your requirements for a daily driver from your petrol-head requirements.

Get something like an A6 Quattro TDI as a your daily, and keep the vRS for the weekends. Will make the vRS last alot longer, and also make it more pleasurable to drive after spending the week in an oil burner.

Then after that, you can decide whether its time to scrap the vRS, and put the engine into something like a Lotus Elise ( that'd give you about 606bhp/tonne ) or a Cateram 7 ( about 765bhp/tonne )

After much thought I have decided to keep the vRS....

I use it every day without any problems, I guess I overeacted a little. The S6 was very numb to drive, and the performance was good but I'd honestly get bored of it, i'm sure.

Went for a good drive Saturday (Bridgnorth - Anglesey) to remind myself why I love it so much...it worked!!

Have been looking at A6 3.0TDi quattro's (Le Mans edition) instead as a second car....I DO like the idea of my engine in a Caterham/Lotus though :thumbup::thumbup:

That's what its all about at the end of day - an experrience that makes the hair on the back of your neck tingle

Bridgnorth - Anglesey - and that's perfect hooning terrain - I've got through many a tank of petrol in N.Wales

I was reading a for sale item of PH a few months backs, a Lotus Elise with a 420BHP 20v, sub 3 second 0-60

That'd give an Ultima GTR a run for its money
