Hybrid ko3s with no other mods

Featured Replies

Why would you not just buy it and store it???

Hybrids have been a massive hit or miss with no one being the same !!! You can get a ko3 hybrid that uses ko4 hybrid internals so stock exhaust will fit!!!

You will need a 3 inch dp but a 2.5 can be used

The issue you have is its pointless fitting the turbo without getting the other bits first !!! Silly way of modding !!

It all depends on your Target with the car

If you go for above hybrid you will need rods to be safe as it seen 300+ already

Have a look on seatcupra.net

300+?so is the ko3 hybrid better then a ko4 then?

The hybrid badger 5 has put on his polo is a k03 fitment with k04 Hynix internals and that made 315bhp with supporting mods ;-)

thats impressive! So why do people bother with fitting ko4 +dp ect...power must be similer? How much are they?:)

The CRT04 hybrid is about £700 for just the turbo on its own.

K04s are popular because they're easier to come by, from Leon Cupra Rs and Audis that are being broken

And I'm a bit gutted I just sold my lcr as I would of been more than happy to break that for the bits!!

I think I have just answered what I want there!! I think I will buy another (cheap) lcr and transplant the complete turbo set up intercoolers exhaust etc and have a decent map done and the just break the rest of the car to gain money back!!! This could end up being a cheap way of getting what I want.

Thanks for all your help on this:-)

If your gonna do that you may aswell chuck the whole engine in, gives u a better base aswell stronger engine more bhp to start with

if your going to do that as si says swap the complete engine over

i totally agree with the whole engine change idea however it is hassle to do so! were as the turbo swap etc can be done on a sat, im not going mad with the mods as i only want around 250-60 bhp any more than that round my way is to much and not needed as i proved with my old one hence not going down the same road again. :giggle:

Any reason why you want it in the Octavia VRS platform? Whats wrong with just buying a Leon Cupra R, remapping it and fitting a straight through exhaust? Should be good for 250bhp or more.

well you are right which is why i bought this

however they just feel totally different!!! i loved my old vrs and only sold it to fund a new house i thought buying a lcr would just be a upgraded vrs but i was very wrong.

engine swap on a drive way 4 to 5 hrs easy

remeber you will need to get a downpipe to fit as its completly different to the vrs in every way poss !!!!

i would change the lot then you have the 6 speed aswell

the 6 speed is one of the big reasons why i didn't like the lcr so there would be no way i would put that in!!!

An extra few hours graft will be worth it in the long run

Still get money bk for the vrs engine and whatever bits you dont use off the LCR, me personally I prefer the Leon, but they were to expensive when I was looking hence why I went with my 2nd choice of the vrs, I don't regret it as the vrs was an amazing car and served me well for 4 years. But trying to get more power starts to get expensive and it was daft (in my eyes) spending 2k to hybrid a car worth 1.5k if I was lucky.

That was one of the reasons I let it go tbh, wasn't financially viable so cut my losses.

I see your point on that, but for me as the car is not worth much I am not intereted on return of investment. As I have modded mine to a particular level, I am thinking K03s hybrid and LSD as a final makeover. I will probably run mine till it dies. I also thought about a Leon but other than the engine/turbo the VRS ticks more boxes for me.

i agree with you there, i have had loads of cars since i sold my first one and i haven't had a car like the vrs hence why im now back in one.

I can see the Octy would be a lot more practical than the Leon. As well as the engine the brakes and 18" wheels would be worth having off the Cupra R

i wouldn't change the wheels from standard as the ride is what i like about the car if i start changing that about then i might not like it as much.

And I can't fault that

4 years is the longest I've owned a car so I suppose it was even more of an excuse to get rid for me, plus I was offered the Volvo (which took the absolute Micky out the vrs so it was a no brainer!....god I miss it :'( )

I've done the new car thing now so it's back to the old gsi's and rs's for me (or there's a nice 309 gti goodwood just popped up on eBay :) )

As long as the goodwood isn't the 5 door.

3 door

I Don't do 5 doors anymore :thumbdown::giggle:

I was going to do this.

buy the LCR and do the whole swap thing. dont think i will be doing that now.

You need the LCR Brembos tho! they are spot on I think, and when painted green, look like they came with the car.

I wouldnt put the turbo on the car untill you an put everything on it. Oterwise youll be remapping it each time. just gather all the parts and then do it. What didnt you like about the 6 speed? its a stronger box. no faster tho as the 6 and 5 speed petrol boxes both have same top gear, just means more changes, also the clutches are not the same. An LSD is a must tho, even with only 225bhp. it makes a mahoosive difference.

Think you need the 18" wheels as well to be able to fit over the Brembos, as in Billys pics above, IIRC the 17" VRS Spiders don't have the clearance.

3 door

5 doors are worth more as they are rarer. but not for me.

Si- go for the goodwood great cars...Full leather and rear side opening window are great. Not forgeting that momo steering wheel.

Remember years back in Fast car a 309 Goodwood has a full Dimma kit added as well as the 16v engine. I had mine at the time and contacted Dimma for conversion. They wanted £5k for full job including spraying. :'(
