Tint my Ride !

Featured Replies

Had my 3 previous cars done, so it's the turn for the VRS.

You could never know it's not factory. The guy who does it bakes the sheet onto the glass and it looks awesome. The edges are impossible to find. With the dark interior, it really is 'privacy' without being silly dark.

To be honest, from the inside it looks similar, the test is at night and it's the perfect shade for me.

£140 - Not the cheapest, but his jobs are a million dollars emoticon-0103-cool.gif

so, I guess I got a $999,500 discount emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Looks nice and black, unlike the redish blacks of some tints - especially over the rear heat elements.

I'd rather pay for quality then get £20 off for a cheaper job that may not last.

Buy cheap, buy twice!

Yes, well spotted.

Like I mentioned, I've had 3 cars done in the past and this is the best job I've had. VERY pleased.

It's one of those jobs tinting. When you see the car for the 1st time it HAS to be right.

Top work mate! :D Contrasts well against the red, makes the wrap around look even stronger

spill the beans then,

where did you get this done

There a guy in Workington, Cumbria who works for himself (ex tinter for a company) and does his jobs from home. Has a big garage fully enclosed.

Needless to say, recommended emoticon-0148-yes.gif

My friend had his first car (corsa sxi) tinted and for the first week or so the tints looked really dark due to moisture behind the tints which is the method the guy put them on with. He also said not to use the Heated element for the first week or so until the moisture had evaporated on its on. And sure enough once the moisture had gone they didn't look as dark.

Looks like a good job, always tell a good one by looking at the edges, some are awful!

Seems a decent price and if you are happy, good for you.

As above they do look a little dark for me.

Just a thought are these legal ?, not the rear sides but the rear screen, as this needs to be to the same tolerance as the front sides?

I think it would be here in Germany - the back and sides can be the same. And if anything's legal here it must be everywhere!

My Pug came like that - with black bodywork too. Hence the nickname - Slughorn.

Certainly dark enough so you can't see who you're reversing into at night!

You can do anything you like to windows behind the B pillar.

As I mentioned before, the tints are hardly any different from inside the car. The VRS does have reasonable rear tint as standard, but not quite enough for my liking. Even when a slight tint is placed over the standard tint, it does give that 'limo' effect. I drive quite a lot at night and in a County where there is little to no lighting. You are constantly glared from the rear and without an electrochromic rear view mirror, it's extremely tiring. forever with the mirror flipped to dazzle. I now have the rear tint & mirror fitted and it's perfect.

Next job for me is to have the wing mirrors replaced with titanium coated anti glare ones. Job done.

Of course, the fronts are standard and the rears are perfectly legal.

alternatively you can buy a set of privacy shades or just buy the rear windown shade from the dealers to do a similar job, its a lot cheaper than tints, you can have the rear windows open without the glare or insects coming in in the summer, and its removable.

No they're not a lot cheaper than tinting. Just the Skoda rear blind is silly money and even aftermarket ones are about £100 for a set. My Sister had these clip on shades and they were on for a month. Once one was caught and looked horrible. I don't like them at all. Everyone to their own though.

I paid about £70 for my set but it was before the VAT went up

I think its too dark Jon..

The standard tint is just right IMO

You like it ...fine mate.

At least its different
