Bushes to change advice needed!

Featured Replies

Hello, :hi: Following on from my post last night I have today bought Brembo Max discs for the front with Red stuff pads, I decided to keep with the OEM discs on the rear as the last owner not long had them replaced, so I just bought Red stuff pad for there too. So I am happy now. The above also come with FREE fitting!!

So now I want to look into these bushes people in the know advise to change, would someone be kind enough to list them so I can take the list to the local garage and get them to check and replace oh and if anyone knows the best places to buy these from that would be helpful too.

Thanks

Wishbone bushes

Dog bone

Rear axle bushes

Engine mounts

Those are the main ones.

Depends what make you are going for

Oem- tps

Powerflex - awesome

Superpro - canrenterprise.co.uk

Steve, awesome car spec you have there :thumbup: .

Two questions :-

1/ I have read many "for and against" comments about Superpro V Powerflex V TT bushes, (ie wishbone bushes popping out).

Do you think Superpro have better characteristics than say Powerflex or is it just personal preference ?.

2/ What life expectancy do you expect them to last for (miles / years), assuming "normal" driving ? lol.

Cheers

Hang on, arent red stuff really meant for a track?

Yeah

I bloody hope not, I have bought the from Demon Tweeks and am off to have them fitted tomorrow along with the front discs (which look very nice by the way) I did explain my use to the guy. Below is ripped from there site and explains the Red Stuff...If you guys think they are not acceptable I will double check with the tomorrow, a frind of mine who does race said they are fantastic on or off track.

EBC BRAKES REDSTUFF PERFORMANCE BRAKE PADS ARE SUITABLE FOR PERFORMANCE ROAD DRIVING & OCCASIONAL TRACK DAY USE.

As EBC's flagship road brake pad material for performance cars above 200bhp, the newest version of Redstuff pads sets new standards in brake performance.

Redstuff pads have always been known for their low dust producing ability, but the latest blend has greatly reduced pad "pick up" (or disc scoring) and reduced dust even further.

This new EBC Redstuff blend is probably a world first in a pad that is almost dust free yet delivers performance braking. The material is a Kevlar fibre based brake compound enhanced with ceramic particles which lasts longer, brakes better, and is quieter.

Any minimal dust is very easily removed with a simple sponge wash as it contains no steel fibre particles as in all other pads. This amazing compound also means they work straight from cold (as good as original pads or better) and get better as they heat up.

This is a truly impressive fast road pad for repeated heavy braking. Redstuff pads feature EBC Brake-In surface coating which conditions disc surface and accelerates pad bed-in.

Nominal friction coefficient 0.5.

Most EBC Redstuff Ceramic pads are approved to ECE R90.

EBC BREAK-IN PROCEDURE:

EBC Brake-In is a mild abrasive red coloured coating applied to the surface of all EBC pads. It helps reduce bed-in time significantly and lightly scrubs the brake disc after fitting new pads.

Brake-In coating removes the zinc coating that is applied on EBC discs (and some other aftermarket discs), so after just a few miles, optimum braking is achieved faster than pads without this coating.

My powerflex wishbone bushes failed after less than 12months!!

I then had superpro's in my oem wishbones and they were excellent, and they took quite a pounding!!!!

When changing to the TT wishbones I fitted the offset (increased camber) bushes and these are SUPERB!!!!

I'd expect these bushes to last the car out under normal/brisk driving.

Another question but are the full bush set hard to fit? I wont be doing it personally but how long do you think it would take a decent garage?

If you drop the subframe you can replace the F-ARB bushes, dog bone (front & rear bush) and steering rack bush in 10mins tops!

Wishbone bushes can be done in half hour from what I remember (providing you have the right tools!!)

The time consuming part is lowering/removing the subframe. It's a good afternoons work!

You'll need a full laser tracking done ASAP once done too.

I'm sure redstuff used to be for track use at some point, maybe I dream't it

I'm sure redstuff used to be for track use at some point, maybe I dream't it

I understood it to be:

Green = normal (oem spec)

Yellow = fast road

Red = track

I'm a Ferodo man myself though....

yup ds2500 all the way over redstuff

Ive always heard stay away from ebc.

As for superpro vs powerflex. I have both and wish I got all superpro. Such a better piece of kit.

From my homework yesterday into brakes it would appear the EBC where bought out and a complete over hall of their products took place. I read up on reviews of the Red Stuff and they where all very positive bar the odd few. But there cars where probably not powerful enough to take advantage lol. It would appear the Yellow Stuff is predominately for track use.

Well to all the guys who prefer different makes, that`s fine I have no idea as yet but will keep you posted. If you see me on the road well at least until we know how good they are, stay behind me!!! :rofl: :p

Thanks for all your help on these matters. I had my headlights out today to change some bulbs mine are Xenon what a mission!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

But all down now. :whew:
