FRONT STEERING RACK BUSHES Powerflex

Featured Replies

Has anyone fitted one? was it easy?

i have fitted superpro before, better stuff to use imo,

yes easy to fit, if you are happy dropping the subframe and its contents, and disconnecting the steering rack from the column to fit the bush.

They are a real pain in the ar$e trying to do them with the steering rack in place. :moon:

Ask me how I know. ;)

Literally spent well over an hour just struggling trying to get the bloody clip back on. I wouldn't do it again in situe.

Only difference is I fitted Superpro. Far too many people have fitted powerflex stuff, decided it was crap, fitted Superpro and been happy campers ever since. That was enough for me.

s*d that!! would be a right nightmare!

You love the challenge Damien!

any pictures with those bushes?

Does anyone know which of the two will have the most dampening effect, after fitting poly engine mount bushes to the dog bone, i have massive vibes through the steering wheel. i wondered which out of the Powerflex and Superpro is harder and which will dampen the vibrations better

many thanks

Dave

What sort of vibes ?? Explain as best you can, I know it's tricky !!

I've been chasing front end vibes for years and still ain't got to the bottom of it

Well the whole steering wheel, it vibrates when stationary, the skoda badge is a slight blur

What about when driving over shoddy surfaces ? Any particular side knocking etc ?

No the problem is only at idle, no other symptoms

what difference do these bushes make?

Colum or the rack bush I reckon, leaning towards bush though, I can't really help on the feel as I was supplied the wrong poly bush and ended up putting OE back on I gotta superpro to fit ....at some point !!

Sorry if i have misunderstood, are you saying i should fit a superpro? or new OE rubber?

I've edited my post so it makes sense !!

I dunno which is best tbh like I say I never properly tried a poly

i dont have a picture but from looking while it was on the ramp its behind the steering rack and a bugger to get to

Over the rack, only on one end, you can just about see it form the top in the gap at the back of the engine (the only gap I think lol)
