Fabia Seat Question..

Featured Replies

Hi all,

So over Christmas and New Year I didn't do much driving and my back was fine, I'm now doing more miles again and my back is in agony! (lumbar region) I've had massages and stretching exercises but as soon as I drive again it's agony.

I've tried a lumbar cushion but it doesn't help, so the question is...

What other seats fit with improved lumbar support?

I've signed up to Edition38 but what should I look out for?

Thanks all, as much help as possible would be great fully appreciated!

For my backs sake :p

Polo 9N/9N2 and Ibiza Mk4 (6L) should be plug-and-play, and I've got a link to a guide on here somewhere about making Mk1 TT seats fit. Apparently it's possible to make Golf Mk4 seats fit, but these are much more difficult (even though the Mk1 TT is technically Golf4 platform based, it seems the seats are different so the TT is easier to fit than other Golf4 platforms).

The polo and Ibiza seats are they comfortable?

Thanks for fast and informative reply :)

I quite like the fabia sport seats if I can get a set but are they any more supportive than the heated elegance seats I've already got?

It's been on the top of my head as I've been looking at new seats myself.

As far as I'm aware the Fabia Sport seats are the same as the vRS ones so should be more supportive than your Elegance ones. Not sure whether they're available heated though, and tbh they seem pretty rare. I haven't seen a set on here or on eBay at least (again, I want some myself as they're the same shape as my vRS seats but black so look better with the black interior and easier for me to keep clean)

I find my Polo seats very comfortable.

No aches and pains even after several hundred mile journeys :)

And I've got his seats in my classic :)

I've got a complete set of VRS seats - In My VRS! Plus I've got a spare set of VRS seats too if you want them? they need a good clean, but are in good condition (car had 100K on the clock when i swopped them - so the drivers bolster is showing a little wear, but no rips or tears)

The holy grail in a VRS would be Mk2 VRS seats I guess??

Or Monte seats, same as I think. Few colour options.

You can make anything fit, but you won't beat Recaro for comfort and support, the best seats I have had were in my Accord type-R, get a pair of these and have some adaptors made to fit them or buy the adaptors from Recaro (they were sold as the SR I think) to fit the Fabia. Anything standard VAG will easily be beaten by them.

Are there any recaros from the VAG group that are a direct fit? And where's best place to get some from?

Thanks :)

Thanks for offer mate but don't fancy vrs seats due to colour etc! But kind to let me know :)

You could get Recaros in some VAG cars, but nothing based on the Polo/Ibiza chassis that I know of. Some Golf GTIs had them, they were an option on the Mk1 Leon Cupra R, and the S3 had them but they're all Golf4 platform so would need work to fit (although I believe it is possible).

Wow! Didn't realise the price as I haven't seen any for sale. TimGti had some for sale when he first came onto the forum, wish I was quicker lol :p

Softscoop, where did you get yours from and price if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks ...

I paid £135 for the seats, sold the CD changer that came with them for £30, then sold my original vRS seats for £150 :)

ORRRRRR.........How about getting a CG-Lock for the seat belt????.......I have back proplems (in general) and fitted one of these and now after a long journey my back doesn't hurt! Had it for about 4years now and they do work my locking the bottom section of the belt so you slide forwards in the seat as over a long journey you slouch in the seat and you hips rotate and you slide forward! By locking the lower section of the belt you can't slide forward!.....Also these DO NOT interfer with the selt belt pre-tensioners, etc etc, and are used by stunt men!!

Thanks but it's definately the seat. I don't slouch and have a lumbar support as well. However when I'm in other cars I don't get back pain. For example my mums xtrail and dads octy.

Thanks anyway :)

I just found a Mk2 Fabia Sport interior in a breakers!!! I'll hopefully get pics on Monday!

Also- will golf mk6 gt seats fit? I take its probably no? :(

I've also got the CG lock, pretty impressive for holding you in the seat but still doesn't do much for comfort in the seat . Haven't tried lumbar support yet but tbh, think its the seat more than anything else.

I know nothing about different seats and brackets so bare with me.

So to find a seat, you'll need one with the same bracket and physically fits into the slot where the seat should go.. Couldn't someone remove (cut off) the existing bracket off the OEM and weld it onto the new one? Or is this not possible? Why would one need to be custom made?

Really fancy one of the bmw m type seats but I have a feeling its one of those round hole square peg moments.
