£1800 30yo, 5ync WTF!

Featured Replies

ok, this is my first post but hopefully 1 of many. As title, im 30 years old, 5 years NCB, currently insured by flux with a highly modded bora. I pay £530 per year on that. Looking at getting a RS estate next week so i ring flux to be told i will have to pay £1800!!!! I have owned 2 1.8ts before and never been anywhere near that money! infact... even with my 500bhp+ scooby it was only £600!! car is garaged, and will have extra security as well as the OEM alarm. So unless im missing somthing, would anyone like to shed some light on why the quote is that high?

Many thanks

update.. just got it online for £489 protected. Dont know how flux can warrant the £1800!! :dull: *shakes head!

AF dont like to insure vrs cars iirc, whoever they use to insure has rated them high risk so their policy is to over price or decline the cover (greenlight wouldnt quote me with mine a few yrs ago), it happens, you just go elsewhere, to someone like chris knott, herts or one of the other specialists who dont have the same policy. Its down to claim history on that car with that insurer.

I had a golf mk3 gti insured with direct line for 6 months then change to afabia vrs and got £20 back was only paying about £240 full comp hpoe that helps .

Flux seem to be cheapest for half the fabia forum with vRS so I dont think thst true.

sorry i should have been more specific, modified octavias is what i was talking about, forgot we are not in the octavia forum :o

they certainly were not interested in insuring mine anyway!

They wouldn't insure me on my fabia vrs as im on 20 with 2 ycb but thats a given lol

Dan replied 2 days AFTER he bought the insurance, so not sre why he would of bothered to contact them again?

I had a similar experience to Gman, when I got by brand new Superb the quote more than doubled from my MKI Superb, their reasoning was the new car was worth too much :dull:

So Allianze insured it for about £40 IIRC more than for my 6 year old MKI Superb
