Cambelt question

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I got a mk1 vrs 53 plate. According to me service manual my car is QGO service intervals. Now the cambelt was done @ 54479 miles 11/1/08(5 years after date of registration) According to the manual is says every 80000 miles. So it been 4 years since its had a cambelt and its now on 101000 miles.

Not very clear at all. People say every 60k or 4 years but manual says 80k but no time interval. WTF?

What do you guys think? Is my cambelt due now or have I got another year?

Cheers,

Gaz

Its defo (now) 4 years or 60,000 miles even though an "out of date" owners manual may indicate otherwise.

HTH

Bill.

I still prefer to see the interval as 4 years or 75,000 miles - the 60,000 miles seems to be a uniquely UK figure - Europe seems to go on a 120,000 kilometre figure.

However that still means it needs changing now!
