Number plate light bulbs, Festoons?

Featured Replies

I don't have an estate, but i would assume they're the same types of bulbs across the mk1's. Unfortunately the number plate lights are the W5W wedge type like these (same as sidelight bulbs):

I keep meaning to buy a load of these type of festoon bulbs to change the interior bulbs, as they fit in the boot light and lights at the bottom of the door etc. - although I'm not 100% sure on the exact lengths.... So your purchase won't be completely wasted if you fancy changing any of those, but won't fit the number plate. :(

At least they were only cheap!!

Cheers ogri_dog, I had a sneaky thought they may be and started to think about what I could use them for , the interior was the next best thing. I have just remembered that my mate in work has just bought CANBUS error free 501 SMD super duper bulbs and was asking if I wanted them the other day. :) I might just have to take them off his hands now :giggle: although they are probably overkill for just number plate sa may swap with the 501's I have in the side lights.

I saw a Fabia the other day with what must have been LED based numberplate lights. The number plate was in virtual darkness while the top of the bumper was nicely illuminated!
