Servicing and retro fitting options

Hello Briskodians, I've been off here for a while and a lot has happened since.

I won't bore you with my stuff, but an update on the Superb:

Thanks to my wife's commute, it has gone from a low mileage car (c15000 miles in 2 yrs) to an above average mileage car (now nudging 36000 at nearly 3yrs).

Glad to say the interior us holding up well - it's the basic 09 Greenline, so cloth seats and basic stereo. The addition of 2 tiny terrors in the back haven't trashed the back seats yet and the dog hasn't mashed the boot.

However, the water pump went, spilling fluids onto the aux belt, requiring a change. All done on warranty, so all good. It's weird, as my dad's Fabia 1.9 TDI had the same problem - perhaps it's a weakness on that engine?

I need to get the work added to the service book, but it's in for its second service in 9 months today, so I'll get them to add it.

The rear screen heater seems to have packed in this week (too cold after all this mild weather?).

In short, nearly 3 years of brilliant motoring, av 50mpg and only a few niggles in that time. I would like to change afew things though, as we are going to keep the Superb as the family hack, at least until we return to "normal" mileage (my wife's commute is about to reduce by 80 miles a day):

- I have the basic stereo (Swing?). How easy is it to get hold of and fit the next model up (with SD slot) or up again (6 CD chager)? Do I basically have to get one from the deealer, as I've never seen one on eBay?

- how easy are the multi function steering wheels to source and fit? Is this a dealer thing again? Does the display etc need reprogramming (not sure of functionality - my Octvia L&K had steering control and much more comprehensive display options through stereo and MFD in dash).

That's all for now. I'll let you know how the service (3yr/40000 mile on interval servicing - includes pollen filter) and can definitely recommend Blades in Bristol.

Ref the audio unit upgrade why not have a look at a Dension multimedia interface? See http://www.dension.com/product/gateway-lite-bt. If you get the bluetooth model then and you also get a MFSW sorted you may get your mobiles bluetoothed at the same time. You wouldn't need any CDs then, once all ripped to mp3. Just an idea, and I have no idea what it all entails/costs, and you might need professional help and installation. Probably better to get specialists to sort it rather than a Skoda dealer. The Dension website might point you in the right direction.

Thanks - I'll take a look.

As an update, the rear screen connector had corroded and so the complete screen assembly is being replaced under warranty. Apparently, it's a new one on them and they'll get the screen specialist to check for a leak when changing.

Other than that, a good service, the car was vacuumed (needed it, I'm ashamed to say) and washed (ditto).

We also took the service plan offer for £299 - looks good value, but we switch from variable to interval servicing.
