thought I'd start a wee post of all the wee nigley faults in our beloved fabias that we just haven't had the time to fix yet or take to the dealer for warranty.would be interesting how many of us has the same faults

so I'll start -

1. both front suspension bushes begining to wear

2. creaking from o/s/f door panel

3. o/s/f window intermittantly jumps down when you press

up

other than wanting to get a service done, that's all for me

1. Gear box thunk on paddle shift down

2. Ocasional grinding noise around 3000rpm

3. Loud brake noise when bringing it to a stop

4. Can be rather hesitant to start sumtimes and rather lumpy when it finaly does

rattes and creaky rear suspension. thats about it really.

parcel shelf reinforcement to the hinges

rubber at the bottom of the a pillar

all sorted under warranty

Spring loaded key fob stopped being spding loaded.

Now both my keys do it :S

17 months. Everythings groovy.

Except for the rear washer which ever since the severe last winter has a strange idiosyncracy.

It wipes fine and washes fine but when you stop washing it doesnt, it decides to carry on for a short while and then ramp down slowly.

The next 3 times you give it some beans you get an extra squirt free each time.

Dealer totally baffled.

I like it.

1. Rear suspension creaking.

2. Seal on rear drivers side door leaking.

So much moisture in the car that last few mornings i've actually had ice covering the whole inside of the windscreen as well as out.

10 Minutes to sort it before work. NOT HAPPY! Got it booked in at end of the month to hopefully sort it out.

Everything is fine, so far :) After 15 months and 12.300 km on the clock

Three and a half years old and no problems except had the rear estate door badge replaced and a new CD head unit as sound quality was not good on some cd's. All good now. I keep trying to find faults but just can't and I'm a fussy bugger!

Creaky armrest which annoys me but that's it. If I knew how to take it out I would and gummi pfledge all the plastic edges

1 - Rattling rear view mirror

2 - Rattle coming drom the door cards when listening to music - the rear doors are really boomy

3 - Rear seat belt buckles knocking against each other.... GRR!

All 3 as above with me.

To prove point 2, stick your finger in between the door card and the side of the dash, you will hear all the rattling stop (not when playing music though).

Good idea for a thread, I love my '57 Fabia 2's comfort & reliability so much so that we've 4 other Fabias in our family, now.

Apart from the dreaded 'console bushes', the reliability seems really good compared to other makes.

I bought it with around 13,000 miles and it's now done around 40,000 miles.

Had a couple of niggles during warranty which were all fixed pleasantly by the supplying dealer EXCEPT the clonk from the off side rear suspension which seems to affect many cars even only a few months old. They could hear what I was talking about but couldn't identify or fix it. To my shame I allowed them to wear me down so I just put up with it rather than refuse to take it back ( I did have their coutesy car - so I had the whip hand).

Anyone got any ideas about the clonk, if you park with all 4 wheels on the pavement it clonks as you drive it slowly off. ONLY o/s/rear though.

Have noticed interior misting up as mentioned by others but am experimenting with heater contols & air conditioning positions as weather has gone from freezing to damp during the last couple of days.

Yes, I love the Fabia and am trying to decide which model to replace it with when the time comes. The new 1.4 MPi looks interesting as I'm not sure of the long term reliability of the TSi engines, so I may go for Diesel.

2 - Rattle coming drom the door cards when listening to music - the rear doors are really boomy

I get that :S so much so ive taken it back to the dealer and told them to do something or they can take the car back...

I also get the most annoying creak behind the dashboard somewhere in the middle it drives me crazy!

Some times i wonder why skoda don't put that little bit more in, that extra little bit to make the car that much more.

Didn't get any knocks, rattles or creaks in the Octavia they lent me, they seem to have been put together that little bit better... :/

Sometimes doesnt start very well when hot/warm.

Rattle in the passenger door, strangely disappeared in the last 300 odd miles.

1/ Odd intermittent problem with NS Front electric window not working...dealer found nothing.

2/ One very bad cold morning start...started first time...but barely pulled away and did the first 100m on about 2cyc..then it ran perfectly...almost like it couldn't find the right map initialy?

3/ Intermittent problem with car not un-locking doors (remote or key). It will open the drivers door on the key...but the rears/passenger stay locked..worrying, as with the child locks on we've had to get the kids out of their child seats and out through the front doors.

This one is going to have to be sorted by the dealer.

4/ Un-responsive heat/vent controls..you turn them...and nothing happens..you turn them again..they work...maybe this is just a design feature! :smirk:

1) The perspex over the speedometer/rev counter etc rattles occasionally.

2) Last week I noticed that the rear passenger side door handle sometimes sticks. You pull it out to open the door and it stays out. If you don't notice then when you close the door it just goes "thud" but doesn't shut. I'll mention this when it gets serviced next week but otherwise I expect some WD40 might sort it.

EDIT: this is the external door handle, not internal.

door rattling common in a lot of cars, some deadening shouls sort it out.

rear seat belt buckles...i think they all touch each other

accelerator sports cover fallen off and perspex over speedo squeeks! grrr lol, only 2200 on the clock , still love monty though :)

when it squeaks if you push in on the top left corner of the glass it stops the squeak for a while, might try some wd40 on it but might be too messy ha

Car 4 months old at 7500 miles:

Squeaky accelerator pedal -replaced under warranty. New Pedal started to squeak after 8 weeks. Careful examination and very judicious application of silicone to offending part -problem solved!

Trim rattles in back with stereo with high bass/volume, not terrible but a bit annoying. As the car was bought for economy I'm not prepared to instal heavy sound insulation/damping.

i had a cracking feeling in the back of my seat, along the ribbing just under the vrs logo, had it fixed and seems fine now

also the stone chip guards by the back wheels are peeling off so getting these replaced next week

ive also noticed with the engine cover, if you stand at the front of the car and push gently in the top right corner it taps a clip on the air pipe, this could make an annoying nose especially when cold. not sure if mines fitted wrongly or they all do this but ill be asking next week about that too just for piece of mind

2011 Fabia Vrs

1.Grit under paint on door handle.. Do I want it re sprayed, no thanks not on a red car

2.Plastic trim guards on wheel arches, fitted incorrectly and replaced.

3.Black plastic trim around doors peeling off.

4.Rattle from instrument binnacle.

5.Rattle from front passenger door.

6.Rattle from rear view mirror.

7.Rattle from rear seat belt buckles.

8.3rd and 5th Gear thunk into gear in manual mode / very slow.

9.Rattle from all over the dash board.

10.Rattle from head rests

Apart from these, nowt wrong with it.

Oh and the squeaky accelerator pedal....

And the misted up DRS light covers.

But thats all.....
