Need some advice HELP!

Featured Replies

I have a skoda octavia Vrs 2003 and had her for years with no problems. I had the cambelt changed on friday and now recieving a engine fault code. The strange thing is that when the car in running the engine warning light does not come on but when reading the code on the secound click of the ignition the engine light is on.

The fault code is 16396 - Camshaft A intake: advanced setpoint not reached, Retarded

Was the belt not fitted correctly? any ideas would be much appreciated

Also i have seemed to have lost MPG

It seems like a timing problem, it can also be caused by low oil pressure, usually due to a blocked oil pick up. Given that it was OK before the belt change, a recheck of the timing would be in order.

Yeah sounds like the belt is a tooth out and the plugs are firing too late not burning all of the fuel.
