how do i get my number plates off?? they are stuck on solid! will no more nails be ok for fittin my new ones?

Kettle of boiling water and some rubber gloves should sort it. Pull the plate back a touch, pour the boiling water on the adhesive sticker and it should slowly start parting away from the metal, just keep pouring and it'll keep coming !

Same idea with de-badging too if anyone fances doing that !

and the no more nails for stickin back on new plates?

Fishing Line Or Cat Gut Pulled Round Back Of Plate Seams To Work

If you don't have any joy with the boiling water (or don't have a cordless kettle ;) ), fishing wire behind the plate & a 'sawing' motion will get it off. I've read that dental floss works too, but haven't tried that one myself.

Bathroom sealant is apparently good for sticking plates on. I'd be reluctant to use no-nails type adhesives in case you need to get the plates back off in the future. I'd imagine you'd have a lot more problems getting that stuff off.....

Another alternative is to use the missus' hair drier to warm up the adhesive and then peel the plate off. A bit less messy than water, but does require a power point reasonably near the car ;)

i just used SCREWS (still teh best way for mounting plates IMO) and screwed it on top of the one that is stuck on there....

Pull them. Really hard. :D

And use Outdoor Sticky Fixers from Sellotape to put the new ones back on again !

If you got down to halfords you can get the sticky pads only a couple of quid saves all the hassle, I use them myself when changing my plates, as far as the removal goes, enough people have provided a solution.

I wouldnt recommend No More Nails, basically its as tuff as nails and you will probably have to snap the plate to get it off in the future...

This works (without fail), grab one end of the plate and slowly bend it away from the body work, you will hear the stick pad ripping - it usually will rip down the middle and leave adhesive and foam on both surfaces.

Then you've just got to clean it off!

Leeboy got it in one

Never use No more nails for god sake do you want a respray??

thats an industrial product. It will damage your paint or take it off when you remove your plate.

Boiling water is crap it just makes the hole process longer than it needs to be.

Never go to Halfords they rob you, support your local independant and buy Auto GLM tar remover it will sofen the residue for easy cleaning after you've pulled the plate off and wont damage paint or leave it marked.

The best pads are either 3m tape, sellotape trim tape,or signum 6mm pads which i use as they come with an alcohol wipe to clean away any remaining waxes ect for long term fixing

Hope this helps it worked for me many times on many cars.

I sell it all the time to customers at my work never had one complaint in Ten years
