Basically when i bought the car he put new pads in front but diddnt do the discs :S iv got calipers and discs will my original pads from my standard vrs calipers fit the 312mm calipers as iv done less than 3000 miles

Not quite, the calipers on the Octavia are the same on the 288 and 312 and thus so are the pads. The calipers are different on the Fabia vRS and why they are not compatible, the piston size etc it's the same just different manufacturer that's all.

The really confusing bit is the MK2 Fabia that uses the same ATE brakes but they are a different shape so pads are different and so are the carriers.
