Just checked my battery and it says it's 42Ah. I'm getting all the common symptoms to do with PAS issues and I've read my fabia 1.4 16V needs at least 62Ah?

Now, I know nothing to do with cars other than how to change the oil, put petrol in and change wiper fluid (in that order) so would appreciate any help I can get.

Technically probably by the build data a 42ah battery probably was fitted, but I'd upgrade to a 60ish anyhow, can't hurt.

I'd doubt it *if* the 42Ah battery is in good condition. How old is it?

If you're replacing anyway, you may as well get the bigger one.

Depends on the age of the battery!

I'm not sure. It was in there before I got the car.

Googled the model of battery (GM44T7) and there are a lot of things from around 2003ish if that's any solid date at all? :S it's apparently an Astra battery...

The battery has an indicator showing a green light meaning it's charge is fine too.

The battery could well be the PAS issue, if it can't supply enough current for the pump then it will cut out.

Have a look through the extensive PAS thread, but a fault code read would be a good start. Also worth thinking about changing the battery earth lead, a known weak point.
