Funny noises you fabia makes?

Featured Replies

So mucking about today, for the first time (by accident) I bounced my car off the rev limiter. It made a very strange bouncing/popping sound, like it was bouncing really fast. :wonder: I think luke`s make a similar noise to mine on the rollers at the Unit 18 open day iirc. My mate was jealous as his doesnt do this "cool" sound but his does do this which I got a quick video

It didnt start doing this until recently, and as far as he can remember it wasnt around the time any parts were fitted. His exhaust/turbo/filter were all fitted ages ago. He did have the map tweaked a while back, but I dont think it started doing this straight after. Sounds pretty good though (IMO of course).

Does anyone else make these noises? Or other strange ones?

not heard it on mine

Sounds like a waste gait or dump valve .

My mates Zafira Gsi does that. Sounds cool but not quite right at the same time.

He took his bmc induction kit off and put standard filter back on, but still does it very faintly.

Don't know what causes it?

Sounds like compressor stall. In fact it is compressor stall, no two ways about it.

You could argue it sounds cool. But its not a good thing, in fact its VERY bad for the turbo.

If your car is doing that then I'd say there is an issue with it.

Compressor stall? Could you explain a bit more why this happens please so I can tell my mate. I know his turbo is burning about a litre of oil every 800 miles or so.

It's when air gets forced the wrong way past the turbo. It can be caused by a few things, usually the blow off/recirc valve not dropping the pressure properly. The throttle plate closes and that pressurised air gets forced back to the turbo. It puts a lot if stress on the turbo and damages it's bearings.

That's what I thought this thread was going to be about as well. :D

+1 lol damn thing

Plus my leather squeaks against the plastic trim in the back seat!

In theory that shouldn't happen with a turbo diesel as no throttle plate. However, some of us still have an ASV and an EGR. I s'pose if that was knackered or stuck 1/2 shut it could achieve the same thing - potential to knacker the compressor and then the turbo in general.

Pinging off the limiter/injectors going out of range? 15 seconds on... not a very good example, i'll get a better video soon

Passenger rear light squeaks like a mouse against the body work when driving over uneven roads or when you push it. And the dash where the a pillar goes through it rubs.

Various squeaks in mine including the normal centre mounting, get around to sorting it one day.

Not surprising given how stiff it is, plus a great bark from the induction kit..lol

Various parts of my dash rattle after I took it apart. Can never be arsed to properly investigate what's doing it though
