What's recommended for getting all the soot off?!

Usually get it pretty clean with pressure washer and elbow grease, but there's always still residue left. Maybe something like silver cleaner, but I didn't want to go whacking that on, as I don't actually know what the tailpipe's made of?

And anything to keep it from getting quite so black again, apart from not accelerating so swiftly of course....

Autosol Solvol, Peek or Brasso:

first two from Halfrauds

Brasso from supermarket

EDIT: Brasso and Solvol are "alledged" to stop carbon build-up...used to use them when rebuilding engines and the recommend was to put a nice coat of these on top of the pistons to stop carbon build up.......

I suspect it was an urban myth as no-one kept cars very long in those days and engines didn't last long anyway....

BTW: just boot it and have fun and accept the cleaning as part of the fun of watching people become dots in the rear view mirror

Just a warning...

Talking to the dealer and he noticed my exhaust was slightly sooty (rest of car imacculate btw )

Anyway he said to use brillo pads, he said they are great for the zorst. I enquired if it wasnt a bit abrasive and he assured me it was fine.

Used it on the inner face and it was pretty good but then gave the outer part a little scrub and left loads of minute scratches on it

Luckily you can only tell if you are cleaning my car and not many people do that

Hmm, yeah - think I'll give the Brillo pads a wide berth
