R32 brake upgrade on VRS Octy 1z

Featured Replies

I am on about upgraded the brakes on my Vrs Octavia by bolting on the brake calipers and discs from a mk5 R32. Do I need to get the front and rears from the R32 or Can I just get the R32 fronts and put my 312 front calipers onto the rear of my car ?????..

You can just do the fronts if you want, but your current front calipers won't fit on the rear. No handbrake attachment for starters.

Ta for that ..I will try and get the front and rears off a breaker then...Is it right that the R32 brakes needs slightly longer brake hoses????

Hello mate, and welcome to the forum. To complete the upgrade you will need (from the donor car) discs, pads, calipers and carriers, hoses and splash guards, if you get all of that it is a straight swap.

P.s can you reduce the size of your typeface....? :p

Check the sale section , Brimmers selling the fronts mate , really good nick , be quick , everybody is chasing them.

S3 are the same , you would just need hoses and backplates , not expensive .

Are you doing the rears for extra braking or aesthetics? They do look a lot better but unless you are tracking the car they don't make hardly any difference in the real world, the fronts are fookin awesome though!!! B)

They should fit mate, but you will need to confirm whether your current carriers are integral to the hubs. Some of the lower Golf mk5 models use this system, so you would need a lot more, suspension, hubs, drive shafts etc, etc. It would be fairly straight forward to check by pulling off the front wheel and having a look.

Have you actually found a Golf GTi set up? The vRS uses identical brakes if you are looking. I would recommend joining the mk5golfgti forum as they are proper enthusiasts and OE brakes are always landing in the for sale section. Not to rub it in, but I just got a complete set up (front and rear) from a mk5 GTi with 17k on it - £80 + postage, the fronts have gone on swmbo's Golf GT and the rears are with a brake god being refurbished to match my S3 fronts.

If you do decide to do fronts only, there might be a set of Brembos for sale in the car parts section B)
