Filter element replacement

Featured Replies

An open filter on these engines will not be a good idea because the engine bay temperatures are very very high.

A dual cone filter? How would you set that up and would they be open?

I would be looking into what ITG have on offer and seeing if you could buy the parts cheaper off ebay to sort it yourself.

Their filters are fantastic and they have loads of housing solutions. You can get the ducting and hoses pretty much anywhere

plenty of options to customise how you want it

Or you have the duty Forge style.

The last ITG i had on my Octavia was awesome and gave HUGE gains. this was open filter but managed this by sealing the surrounding area with a foam material forming a cold high pressure area arond the filter that was segregated from the hot engine bay air.

YOu can pick up an aluminium inline filter housing thats capable of flowing enough air for £300 for only £160 My link

im planning on fabricating my own alimnium shield around the filter and an an aliminium pipe attached to the shield leading towards the front of the car where it have a large open scoop type intake extending a part of the way down the grill to maximise airflow, and connect that to the pipe with a bit of flexible hose....got it sorted in my head its just difficult to put into words.

ITG filter are great,a mate of mine did some experimenting using a rolling road.He tried a OE paper Filter,K&N,ITG panel filters and a pipercross cone filter the only one that showed any decent gain was the ITG the others showed no gain or in the case of the cone filter a loss in bhp.

Obviously it was not a scientific test but it still showed differences

I think I'll go for this eventually, just can't get around how in tidy it looks in the engine bay :-/

Un-tidy* surely all then bends and kinks in the pipe restrict airflow?

Tell you what, the ITG sounds fantastic emoticon-0103-cool.gif

I keep thinking the stereo is on in the background (when it's switched off) The combination of soft hisses, air swirls and soft blow off noise is great emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

God I feel 21 again. Thanks ITG emoticon-0148-yes.gif
