Is it what it says on the tin?

Featured Replies

I came across this advert on an irish used car website.

http://www.carzone.ie/search/Skoda/Yeti/Elegance/1513276685073720/advert?channel=CARS

It's listed as a Greenline Elegance but doesn't appear to be for the following reasons:

1: no stop/start button

2: No climatronic

3: Not moon alloys

4: The leather upholstery with gobi inserts on black door cards.

5: The dash inlay is listed a wood effect which clearly is not.

Is this a dealer special? Is the upholstery a dealer retrofit is is this option available?

Is it a mongrel?

And finaly why did they put in those blingy floor mats?

Perhaps they are just a series of library pictures and not the actual car, is that a main dealer in Ireland.

It is a main dealer who also has a Merc franchise. Maybe it is from their own libary. The first thing that drew my attantion to it was that I've never seen that leather combination here before. Usualy you get Black leather or Gobi, the Gobi having matching door cards. It looks like an Ambition model with an after market upholstery job and not a Greenline model in Elegance spec.

Well it looks like a real car (see reflection of photographer :giggle: ) and RHD. Possible a interior build error; does happen seen a number of SE's advertised over in UK with a leather seat option but no seat heating and S trims with dash inserts for SE's and Elegances.

Oh that combination will be available somewhere in Europe, they have a much wider choice than we do when it comes to interiors; seen a French Yeti with Gobi door and dash panels with onyx/blue panelled SE seats; each to their own I suppose.

Unusual floor mats I noticed to.

Looks the real McCoy to Skoda Ireland spec and probably a cancelled order with all of those factory-fit extras - Annapurnas, removable towbar, wood inlay etc - nice

Mine came with SE's silver trim, even though it is an S.

It's amusing to see that the Skoda Ireland website seems to be even more of a mess than the UK one. According to the car configurator there is no such thing as a 1.8TSI. The Skoda Ireland brochure says otherwise.

Just to confuse matters their price list doesn't mention the 1.8TSI either. Then their spec list mentions autodimming exterior mirrors for the Elegance which they no longer supply as standard. Loads of errors on spec such as wheel size for the Greenline being incorrect, they obviously cut and paste from other documents without cross checking what they are actualy supplying.

That is indeed a peculiar interior. A strange shade of leather too (it certainly is not Gobi) which I've never seen even on a European Yeti... I do like black carpets and black dash with light seats though - if one was to go that way. When you look at the stiching at the top of the rear middle seat it looks a bit wonky to me suggesting an aftermarket leather add on?

It could indeed be an aftermarket add on as I have heard of some Dublin dealers offering leather upgrade for less than the factory price. The Irish spec Elegance also has climatronic as standard which this one does not and I've never seen a Greenline without the stop start switch. My guess is that this is a 2litre Ambition model with dealer fit Leather upholstery.
