Better Octy vRS standard-brake-disc/pad replacements. Which?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

When I get back to the UK (just have to drop that I'm in not-so-sunny Barcelona ;) ), I have to change my front Octavia vRS discs and pads. I'm thinking of upgrading (slightly) while I've got the chance, so what do people recommend?

I'd like to keep the cost as close to standard as possible (ofcourse I'll pay a little more), be I really like better everyday braking. I've seen some Pagid Black Diamond drilled disks for around

Had these on mine for a 1000miles didn't notice any difference to the standard ones only the little cracks that appeared from the drilled holes.Got a refund in the end,if you do decide to buy them go for the grooved only.

Chris,

did you change the pads as well?

I got EBC grooved discs and Ferrodo DS2500 pads....and as you well known... my RS stop quite well.;)

I think I paid around

personally i won't bother...the standard brakes i feel give plenty of stopping power

..but also fade badly.

My set-up isn't as far as you could go but I can definately say it has a better feel and stops much better.

Once I have the fluid sorted it will be better still.

If you have a remapped car I say it's definately worth it.....as a minimum I would suggest the DS2500 pads and fluid.

Yup brake fade has scared me lotsa times. I will change them eventually :D

Surely the fade can be cured with a decent DOT brake fluid?

And maybe SS hoses.

Bit less extreme than pads/discs?

Fluid...yes....braided hose...no. RS already has reinforced hoses...IIRC.
