Rear wiper seems to have packed up!

Featured Replies

Anyone else been affected with this on an Octy2 hatch?

Seemed to be moving more slowly than usual the other day, then stopped moving at all on a journey earlier today.

I suspect it's the motor but I've not checked the fuse or done a VCDS scan yet.

Cheers,

Steve

Quite a few threads similar to this recently, it seems to be a common Octavia issue - a duff motor.

I recall one thread where they opened up the motor gave the contacts a good clean, a bit more grease and all was well.

Others have simply swapped out the entire motor.

Some interesting reading here...

Wardy, my previous Octy did this, heres what I did and it resolved the problem (for a few months then had to do it again)

I simply gave the wiper a little (quite hard) push at the right time and then it would start working again!

with the wipers off and car running, turn them on and time it so that you are pushing the wiper at the same time the motor would be, this helped it get moving and then it would be fine again!

Did read on here too that the wiper motors were on back order :(

Thanks chaps, and will have a look at that thread too.

If it is the motor I'll probably just picked one up from a breakers.

Had mine replaced on Friday. Only took a couple of days to arrive. Worth arguing with the dealer if they say it's on back order as they can 'prioritise' the order.

Get my done tomorrow not before time as the boot release on the the boot its self isnt working at times either :dull:

Are they related?

Unless yours is related to a leaky rear washer fluid or water getting into the tailgate, I can't see them being related.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just got the same problem with mine, its very jumpy and just stops after a couple of wipes.
