Reversing Camera

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a reversing camera that will fit in the number plate light on a 10 plate Octavia VRS? Yes I can drive, but I have to park in a really tight spot at work and a camera would make life easier for me! And no I don't want to drill holes in the bumper for parking sensors.

Thanks in advance

Rich :)

Hi there. I have a good one on my Mitsubishi outlander. It sits in where the number plate light is and is displayed on a hidden screen on the left hand side of the rear view mirror. I know it's not of VAG origin but I'm sure a half decent auto electrician would be able to get it to work in any vehicle. Not sure about prices though!

From personal experience, I actually preferred the sensors that I had on my Octavian estate for reversing, the the camera is really handy for tight reversing and coupling trailers.

There are lots out there, I got mine through Amazon but it appears to be discontinued now but the company that made it is Sanpos so you may be able to find someone else selling it. Needed to ease the hole in the tailgate a bit about 0.5 mil as it was just a bit too fat

Had exactly the same problem, took the power from the power socket in the boot (I have the estate) and that all works great. It looks like anything that is monitored by the Can Bus causes this problem, as the socket is not it works OK

How good is the light shining onto the number plate?

Whiter than the other one but just as bright there are 4 leds. May change the other one for led just to keep the colour the same at some point

Oh cool, does it show as a bulb-failure on the dash?

Think I'm gonna get me one of these! :)

Does not on mine (57 plate) cannot say for any newer ones though as I think the post FL models can be a bit more picky.

Hi richieroo, have you got an Octavia hatch or estate?

I am loking at buying one but i have a 2009 Octavia VRS Hatch,

also where did you purchase the monitor from?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

It's a hatch!

Bought the monitor from ebay for £12 delivered. Mounted to the back of the seat on a bracket. Bought a relay last night so next weekend I'll fit it all properly, and do a write up with photos.

The Led in the camera body will give a canbus error, so you'll need one of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pre-wired-501-W5W-LED-Resistor-Stop-Canbus-Warnings-/190623683241?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c620e92a9

Trimmed and new connectors attached means no cutting original wire.

Hope this help?

Does anyone know if you can get these to work on a Bolero? Not hopefull but worthwhile asking!

Hi Richieroo, thank you for the reply, i will wait till you have fitted yours as you said at the weekend and then purchase one myself. I will look out for your write up and pics when you put them on!

Also Lee Thomas i would be interested to know if they would work on a Bolero too! if you dont ask you dont find out!

Regards, Mike

Won't work with a Bolero there is no video input! Will work with a Colombus, but really is it worth all that cash to change?

Still waiting for the relay to turn up just been informed I'm "busy" all weekend, so write up might take a bit longer! Sorry.
