Juddering DSG

Featured Replies

I drive a 55 plate DSG Octavia which I have had from new. So far I've covered 122K miles.

In the last couple of days, it seems to have developed a worrying fault. I always drive it in "D" (as opposed to "S") and the car has just started to judder when idling at low revs in a high gear, or starting to go up hill in a high gear.

The symptom is identical to the effect when a normal geared car starts to labour and judder when you forget to change down a gear, but obviously with a DSG, the car should sense that change in conditions and have already changed down before such symptoms become apparent (which it certainly has done for the last 122,000 miles!).

Flooring it obviously cures the problem, prompting an immediate downshift, but I obviously shouldn't have to do this.

What is likely to be wrong, and perhaps more importantly, with a car of that age, how much is it likely to cost to fix....?

Any pearls of wisdom would be appreciated.

Thanks

Neil

When did you last have the DSG oil and filter changed - should be done every 40k miles.

Could be DMF, does it judder when pulling away?
