1.9 or 2.0 tdi ?/

Featured Replies

I have found other posts on here that answer a few of the questions i have, firstly which is more reliable a 1.9 105bhp tdi or a 2.0 140tdi?, next how does the 105 drive when remapped compared to a standard 140 as there is 2k difference in price roughly, which as i am using it as a private hire car is a big difference and wont affect the resale as i will run it into the ground, lastly is the 5 speed gearbox fairly low reving at 80/90 mph?

any help with these questions would be great, thanks in advance Mat.

1.9 is more reliable and gives better mpg

I have a 1.9 & sitting at 80/90 it's high revving. But I've started slowing down and sitting approx 65 & you sit at 2k revs. £10 returns me 100 miles roughly.

The 2.0 is brilliant but thirsty especially if you have a heavy right foot, brilliant for sitting at 80/90 on the mway in 6th & there's still bags of power.

I'm looking to get my 1.9 remapped shortly, recon it'll be good but still not as good as the standard 140 with the 6spd box

1.9 for me.

2.0TDi for me - but I do a lot of motorway miles so wanted the extra ooomph and 6th gear.

If you are doing a lot of town driving go for the 1.9 - better mpg and a more reliable engine.

As a private hire driver you won't be doing 80 or 90 though will you emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Hi mate. I have 1.9 TDi PD remapped Fabia MK2 and loving every minute I spend behind the wheel. It's very nippy, economy on the run to work is 55mpg plus (21 miles each way) and in town 45mpg plus. If you drive at 80/90mph the car revs at around 2,500 to 2,700 but even at this speed you'll easily get at least 50mpg or more (I managed to get 54.9mpg driving constantly 80/90mph on the very long trip to eastern europe and I tell you now that you should see all of those faces in the 1.9tdi 130bhp VW Passats and even 2.0tdi VAG cars as I was really easily keeping up with them or even overtaking on the 5th gear). The car is more responsive after remap and I don't use the lower gears as much as I used to especially when trying to overtake hence the economy is much better and you have that extra power whenever you need it. I'd personnally go with the 1.9 TDI but it's your decision. Cheers. Matty

1.9 definately

Absolutely love it mate, don't get me wrong I do wish it had abit extra power & that 6th gear, but it'll only cost me more in the long run. Really quiet happy plodding away keeping the revs below 3k.

My cars are kept mint, serviced every 10k on the dot & between services if any noises appear it's booked straight into the garage.

I do think the 1.9TDi is by far the best engine out there for taxi-Ing. I prepaired the non PD tho in the Mk1 octavia.

1.9 definately

And again
