removing front seats

Featured Replies

looked through a few threads there and people are sayin about disconnecting the battery before removal due to air bags in the seats...is this necessary for seats without air bags? i know theres a connection below the seat, is this to do with the air bags?

Not airbags in the seats........but because the seats have a sensor in for detecting the person and there is also a connector which is linked to the seat belt pre-tensioners...and you don't want them going off!!!!!... B)

In theory the airbags and pretensioners shouldn't be active with the ignition switched off, so it's just a safety precaution in case of a malfunction or knackered wiring shorting out somewhere etc.

Personally I would risk it, but then I like to live life on the edge and give health and safety the :finger:

cheers for the info.

I took my drivers seat out - no wires...

M8 spline drive bolts in each corner  Should be replaced with new but if carefully replaced to avoid cross-threading, shouldn't be a problem.

Both my seats came out to be scrubbed clean and had no wires at all.

But then i don't have side airbags or heated seats ;)

For future reference is it a M10 or M12 spline to unbolt the seats?

M10 IIRC :)

Ah, I forgot M8 spline is for the slam panel. :D Always getting them mixed up. Sure M10 is the seat one.
