Where to get fabric covered vacuum pipe?

Featured Replies

Hi All

I am wanting to replace all the vacuum lines on my 2002 Elegance 110TDi and I am wanting to find out where I can source this from? Also, it would be handy to know how much in length I need. TPS don't seem to stock this, only reinforced rubber fuel line (which is expensive).

Any help/advice would be gratefully received! :)

would some black silicone vac pipe do? i think its like 1.99 a metre on the bay. i used some ebay stuff on my Bora TDI for 18 months with no probs. :)

why the need for it to be coverd ?? just use silicone vac pipe

The genuine stuff is the same as the leak off pipe, there are two diameters.

The fabric stuff has now been deleted and replaced with regular vacuum pipe anyhow.

Thanks for that - I didn't realise that there is a silicone verson available. Will check this out on eBay. What are the two sizes I need and what lengths of each do I need to replace the whole vacuum system?

Thanks

Dan

i think i bought 3mm and 5mm 3 metres each and cut it accordingly. I still have tons spare!

I got mine from the dealers. I am sure I posted the required lengths in the past, if not I can try and have a look back through my parts invoices.

I had fabric covered fuel pipes on the volvo, will never have them on any car again! When the pipes cracked you couldn't tell till the engine caught fire!

Would be the same with breather hoses you wouldn't be able to tell if they neeeded replacing.

I had them on my Nova, it wasn't till I smelt petrol and felt the hose did I know the rubber underneath had seen better days.

Lest it didn't catch fire lol, thank god it had a mechanical fuel pump and I had some water and a cloth in the boot!

Some might have said it might have been a blessing if it did catch fire :giggle:

Oh yes, those were the days, simple cars and simple engines. I had water in the boot of mine too (via a rust hole under the rear bumper - poor crash repair prior to my ownership of the car).
