Different Colour Roof?

Featured Replies

We ordered our yeti at the start of October and were given a collection date of "mid Feb". Just checked with the dealer and we are still on-track but he can't give me an exact date yet :dull:

As the date is approaching, I have been spending hours looking at what we should have, could have and shouldn't have ordered but I'm sure we will be happy :) One thing I did notice is there wasn't much talk about the 'two tone' (different colour roof) colour selection on the forum, which we were offered. After checking the UK Skoda site, it seems it's not available in the UK which I found strange as I thought they are all made in the same place?

Perhaps Belgium is a trial to see if people actually order it? ;) I don't think it works with all the colours but some it looks quite good. There is a deal at the moment with the 'Yeti Oxbow' which is white with a black roof: you can see here.

We went for the Mato brown (Muscovado in the UK) with magic black roof - can't wait to see what it will turn out like! Has anyone seen the two tone yeti 'in the flesh'?

Would have loved a black roof on my candy white Elegance, but as you point out its not available in the UK.

I am having black mirror caps and a black grill fitted prior to collection.

I would have taken a black roof on my muscovado, sadly not an option.

There is no logical reason why we cant have a black roof option in the UK.

Aren't they all made in the same factory?

If we all complain to Skoda they might do something.

(yes I do live in a fantasy world!)

:)

No, that's what I was thinking! We also had the option of the MDI port which I believe also is no longer available in the UK? Strange.

Will post some pictures once we pick her up! B)

I've seen "Oxbow" versions at the Frankfurt motor show last year. VERY nice they are too. When these roofs were announced at Geneva in 2011 I made some PhotoShop versions of all the colours of roof in this thread:

Some work and some clearly don't! The worst one being Regency Green with a white roof. Yuck.

Another interesting one is Lava blue with a silver roof:

It has NEVER been available here. The storage unit in front of the gearlever (where the MDI socket sits) is only made in LHD format for some peculiar reason. So you can't get a factory fit MDI at all for RHD cars. You can see the socket just ahead of the gearlever in this photo.

Great work on those two tone Photoshop images. Certainly works better with some than others :D

I actually got a call from the dealer today saying our yeti has arrived and we can pick her up whenever!!!! I think we will try to get there on Saturday if I can get the loan finalised by then.

Pictures to follow....

Thanks. I've toyed with the idea of just having my roof vinyl wrapped in black. As well as the mirrors:

BUT I think it would work better if I had had black Matterhorn alloys! Which I really can't justify spending money on. The image below is just my old black winter wheels. But you get the idea.

Quickly added VERY crude Matterhorns to my car. Looks great I think.

Agreed. I think this roof/wheel combo would look great with Candy White too.

Plenty of pictures of that exact combination on this forum already. It is called the Oxbow in some markets and Reef in others:

It does look smashing I agree. Just needs to have gloss black mirrors to be perfect.

Truly excellent - could well be my next one if available in the UK in a couple of years! BUT I share your reservations about the silver roof rails and of course any facelift in the meantime could change the appearance of different colour schemes quite radically.

True. And yes the rails (and mirrors) need to be black of course.

Having black mirrors and a black grill on my candy white Elegance. Will put pictures up when I collect it on 1 March. Black alloys and a black roof would have been ace. Maybe next time when Skoda make these available to us.

Iain your Yeti should look this one I posted in this thread ages ago? Apart from the black door handles of course.

This takes me back. Who remembers the days of Austin A40's and the BMC 1100 and 1300's that came with white or black roofs?

I also remember that a black roof acted as a heat sink and amde the car hotter, whereas a white roof reflected slightly.

How about a really shiny silver roof?

Not normally a fan of blue cars but I really like this blue and silver combination, its works well with the alloy/silver colour front spoiler.

Looks OK. Time will tell. Think it should look good.

I wonder how much it costs Skoda to apply the different roof colours? Thinking about it logically, the whole car is normally robot painted in one go. So they must have some way of painting the roof first, then masking it with a cap in order to paint the rest of the car. Probably more likely in that order rather than vice versa as I'd think masking the lower bodywork would be more difficult. Whichever way they do it, they must have found an economical way of doing it that wasn't available in the 70's when the practice faded away on grounds of cost !

This is my own. Magic black with silver roof. I think that different color roof makes Yeti even better looking.. ;)

Few pics more: Yeti pics

Great looking Monster!

Kudos to you!

 Nice combo Tony! Wow the prices in Finland are crazy - I just looked at the car configuration tool and tried to make a similar build as ours (a lot of logical guessing though as my Finnish is non-existent) and it was in excess €35k!!!

We went to collect ours yesterday but unfortunately it wasn't ready yet so we have to wait until Monday - the wait continues :|

Just to add to this again ...

I was having black mirror caps and a black grill on my Candy White, soon to be here Yeti. I'm now also having black alloys! The dealer is getting the work done prior to collection.

HOPEit looks as good as I think it will!!!!!!!

Can't wait to see it! So which alloys are you getting? Will the dealer just spray the standard wheels?

I'm having Annapurnas and yes the dealer is having them sprayed along with the grill and mirror caps. They have started doing this a lot on Octavia VRSs, but mine is the first Yeti to have these mods. I guess you can take the boy out of his vRS but ....... !
