Serious car issues (not mine)

Featured Replies

Saw a Seat leon today that was involved in a minor shunt (into a ditch) which had done barely any real damage beyond a cracked splitter and one headlight mount bust.

however, the following were all DEAD!

Dipped headlights (sides worked fine, full beam worked when pulled toward you)

Heaters/climate control - always going cool

Windscreen wipers and washers

Indicators

Brake lights

Any ideas? I got a fault for intermittent brake pedal switch which might explain the brake lights, but indicators & dipped? Windscreen wipers? What would kill all that? Cleared all faults in 46 convenience module and nothing came back. Fuses appeared to be all OK. Very odd

Anything in airbag?

It didn't take a hit on the passenger side by chance did it? Down the back of the left hand head light in from of the airbox there is a 14pin D shade connector that joins 2 of the wiring harnesses together, it may have come unplugged or have had a knock.

NNo airbag issue. Whole front went in ditch so connectors possible. Thought that would trigger vcds faults though.

you'd be amazed how much stuff you can unplug from the engine bay and have the thing still running!

An earth point has probably been ripped off.

Agreed.

It very likely that the engine has moved a lot in the impact. Potentially breaking some wires or connectors.
