36k service

Featured Replies

Had Dewi in for it's second service today, at 36663 miles, at Furrows in Oswestry.

No major problems.

I commented on the OS headlight seeming a bit low, and when they checked the replacement bulb I had fitted, it was sitting incorrectly so they replaced it and then rechecked the alignment. It was a cheap ebay item!!

OSR interior light was rattling so they refitted that.

Both rear tyres are going to need replacing in the next 3 months. (I'm going for Goodyear Vecta All Seasons)

Very happy at £195.

And they washed it!!

That was only Dewi's third wash I presume? :giggle:

Ah, is yours a muscavoda 61 plate Yeti. There was one parked by the service bay doors yesterday morning when I dropped my Mondeo off for it's MOT yesterday at Furrows, the last visit it will have their as the lease ends in march, Then i get the Yetti

If that is yours. Very smart it looked to.

Ah, is yours a muscavoda 61 plate Yeti.

If Dewi was a 61 reg, Graham would have been doing 8000 miles a month (since September 1 when the 61 reg came out!) :giggle: So I don't think it was Dewi you saw!

Rich,

mine was the 10 plate Muscavado one. I dropped it off at about 1045.

I'd gone by then. My Mondeo was sat in the MOT bay.

That woul dhave made 3 Muscavoda's on site.

 Really pleased with mine.

+1 good grip on ice and snow move standing water very well  , and have done 7k on them now and not showing much wear, will put the fronts on the rear at 10k.

That's interesting!

I think like me you have Kumhos on the front so you are putting all seasons on the rear.

Sounds like an acceptable mix, probably better than having summers on the front and winters on the rear.

I shall probably go against all the received expert advice and put the Goodyears on the front and swap the Kumho's to the rear.

I'm afraid to say it, but I won't be buying the Kumho's again. Can't put my finger on it exactly, but I'm not that happy with them.

Had my first (variable) service today - at 19K miles.

Tyres had worn very well, still had 4.2mm on the fronts and 5.0mm on the rears. Think I might swap them round so they all wear out at the same time. Then I stand a good chance of the leasing company putting 'all season' tyres on all round, there is no way they will fit winter tyres just for the winter.

On my last car (Hyundai Tuscon) they fitted Bridgestone 'All Roads' which were excellent in the bad snow of 2010/2011.

One thing worries me, they allegedly checked the spare too,(inc pressures) which is upside down in the well with a load of stuff in it and round it, I was amazed that they had managed to put it all back exactly as I had left it !!! -Oh they had also found all the tyres at exactly the same pressure - funny I normally run the fronts and rears at slightly different pressures!!

At least they washed it !!

Not had any issue with the Kumhos so will move them to the rear and get new tyres for the front soon.

Hey, maybe its the name - pronounced 'koo-moh' and not 'cum-hoh' (which makes them sound like a pornographic website!!) :D

No me, you prat! :giggle:

One of the Osrams blew when we were away for a weekend and I had a spare bulb in the tool box which I fitted.

I don't know what it is about them. They were great in the summer, but as they have worn they seem to have lost the "edge" they had, and certainly don't feel as "nice" as the original Dunlops.

It'll have to wait until next month anyway, as we are off to France for a week next weekend and have to pay the VED when we come back (£165)

I had mine in for her first service last week, 22 months (18700 miles), this was a variable service.

It cost me £180 including brake fluid change.

I had front and rear badges and handbrake release cable replaced under warranty. Plus they checked and cleaned rear brakes and fitted new headlight bulbs that I had provided.

Why did they change the brake fluid?

Not needed now until 3 years old and every 2 years after that - unless of course you specifically asked for it?

I had to advise my dealer of this when they wanted to change Mrs MM's @ 2 years - and yet the VW dealer was aware on my previous Golf!

I spoke with 3 different Skoda dealers and they all told me that a brake fluid change was recommended after 2 years. :S

It was changed in '08 MY

See pages 6 & 7 in your Service Schedule Booklet - amazed dealers don't know this, but of course it's a bit more profit for them.
