Heated washer jets retro fit?

Featured Replies

This damned icy weather and the flippin "Skoda Wiper Jump" has just seen off my second set of wipers this winter. "The Skoda what" I hear you ask? You know, that sudden pulse the wipers do each time you turn off the ignition, that's supposed to stop the wiper blades developing a "set" if left parked in the same position for a long time.

Trouble is, when your wipers are frozen to the screen, even if you don't use them, they still try to do the jump when you next turn off the ignition. In so doing, the blade neatly tears off the backing rubber.

After the first lot failed, I always carefully defrost the wipers before setting off, but if they then freeze to the screen whilst you are driving, there's nowt you can do if you turn off the ignition (which is the automatic thing to do) when you arrive at your destination without getting out to check they're not frozen again.

Does anyone know if this can be disabled for the winter?

Don't believe you can, although someone with VCDS might know different :wonder: However one solution for those buying new is the heated screen; big improvement over the last monster in getting going and an ocassional extra burst during a journey when it's really cold, appears to keep the wipers free.

Grrr. That is not clever of Škoda ... Fine to leave them in the service position and lift them up, but if you're driving and it happens then. No no no.
