Hi, I was thinking about buying a spare key with transponder from carkey. Does anyone know where I can get it programmed near southampton. A main dealer wanted £50.

£50 is pretty cheap for a dealer to code a key (I assume you have to supply the key and NEW transponder for that price)

To code a key 1st you need the SKC (secret key code) reading from the car, this is either done by a dealer or someone with VAG- Tacho, then someone has to code the BRAND NEW unused transponder to the car, I believe this can be done with VAG-Tacho but it is not as straightforward as doing it with VCDS.

Dealers usually charge in the region of £160 to supply a new fully coded key/remote.

Hi, The key is a basic one with trasponder and no buttons. The skoda dealer charges £50 for the key and £57 for the coding. I can get a key with transponder cut from carkey online for £18. The dealership said they could try to code the new key, but would charge even if the key wouldn't code. I wondered if anyone had used carkey to obtain keys and whether they work?
