2006 vrs alarm

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Got myself a 56 plate vrs octavia & was wondering if the factory fit alarm is any good?

Has anyone had an aftermarket cat1 fitted in place of the factory fit or is the factory fit decent enough?

Cheers.

Original is fine

Check the manual: the battery/horn needs replacement every 5 or 6 years. Yours would be due.

Mine was replaced a few months ago (on an 06). Never had to replace one on a car before, but works now and seems adequate. Dealer didn't know how to enable sound on locking or unlocking though.

If anyone with an older car wonders whether their alarm still works; there is a test. (detailed in the manual).

If the vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft alarm system*, you must

unlock the vehicle by inserting the key into the driver door you then have

to insert the key into the ignition lock and switch the ignition on within 15

seconds after opening the door. The alarm will be triggered if you do not

switch on the ignition within 15 seconds.
