Virtual XP on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Featured Replies

Any IT geeks out there able to give a numpty a Noddy's guide please

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my desktop, and would like to install a virtual XP site (I'm sure that's not the right term)

Could anyone give me a step-by-step guide on how to do it?

I've looked on the Windows pages, which say you can use their software if you have Windows 7 Professional or above, but it's not compatible with Home Premium apparently

Any help would be gratefully received :)

it cant be done on home premium, it needs to be professional. W7 pro also includes and XP license, so you don't need to own a copy of XP. Failing that you should be able to download Microsoft Virtual PC from their website and use a copy of XP that you have to install it.

There is a guide here.

this is for Vista, but should also work for Windows 7.
