Well I think the wife in the two years shes owned her car she has managed to burn out the mirror glass on both mirrors. I have checked/changed a fuse (think it was the right one)

I asked if she has ever turned off the heater part by moving the dial on the controls and all I got was a blank look I then pointed to the sticky label on the black bit under the speedo and it says turn off mirrors and what do I get yup a blank look .

So me thinks the heater elements have had there day.

So recommend me a seller that I just need to swap the mirrors over without having to extend wires and prise away backing plates and restick.

Can't link a seller but get someone who is local with vcds as you can change the timing on them to prevent it happening again.

Hm, are you saying the mirrors are heated all the time that the thing is in the middle? And not just when you have the heated rear screen on? I don't have a sticky label under the speedo (at least not that I've seen) and I always drive around with mine in the middle as I can be a bit OCD (or just plain anally retentive) about things

Yep, it's stupid isn't it?

My old Polo, they would only come on with the heated rear screen.

Change it with VCDS so that they time out after 10 or 20 minutes.

She always has the switch on the little heat emblem on the mirror controls. So presuming on the early fabia's that was the control for the mirror heaters.

But they dont work even with rear screen heater on.

Oh well, probably burnt mine out by now too then. Although the drivers side glass has been replaced with a stick on bit at some point so the heaters are useless anyway. Might have to look into a couple of new mirror glasses and then change it with VCDS so they only come on for 5 minutes or so (I always scrape any ice off myself so it would only be needed for a few minutes for misty mirrors)...

My drivers side is burnt out apart from a thin strip at the top.

Just have a look on ebay. I can get them for mine for about £14 a side.

Don't know how much they are from the stealers.
