Replacement Bulb Kit (vRS)

Featured Replies

Just a quick one... we're going abroad in the Summer and need a replacement bulb kit on standby as it is required. However, we've got a vRS LE (2009) and obviously that has Xenons - any recommendations in terms of a replacement bulb kit, that will cater for these requirements? Thanks!

Cheers... don't suppose you have a link to the ones you tend to go for? eBay is somewhat overrun with various different options!

And it'll be Holland :)

I live in Holland an no requirement for bulbs nor in Belgium or France if you come that route. Always good to have though. There officially is NO compulsary equipment legally needed to be carried in the Netherlands however there are things you are required to use in the event of an accident/breakdown like warning triangles and high vis vests although you are not legally obliged to carry them in first place...... random but true lol

For Holland you need to have

Both parts of UK driving licence

V5 for car (not photocopy)

Insurance Certificate (stating min basic 3rd party for country visited)

High vis vest in reach of driver from his/her seat

Warning triangle

GB sticker for rear unless EU Ident markers on rear number plate (front doesnt matter)

€250 min cash for on the spot fines (highly advisable)

Bulb Kits

Please do not bother sticking those silly things to lights Octavia has a switch in both lights to flatten beam for driving on other side of road!

Guide for : FL EU Headlight switch

Guide for Non FL EU Headlight switch

***EDIT*** Xenons you will be able to change them via maxidot oops LOL but I shall leave links on in case they are of use to someone else in the future sorry :giggle:

Where in Holland btw?

If you have xenons, if you dont know what ur doing when changing them theres a good chance that you will get a big ass zap of electicity from them as they use capacitor's to up the voltage.

Theres no suggestion of that in this thread

All the OP needs to do is buy a continental bulb kit from Halfords

That satisfies continental rules ...even if youre never going to use it

Cool thanks for all that.. very useful indeed! Going to experiment finding the settings in the MaxiDot - quite pleased that we don't need those silly headlamp converters!

Can't remember the name of the area... shall have to look it up again... although we're staying near Amsterdam for part of it as well :)

Thanks again for the tips!

If it's a factory standard vRS LE then you don't have xenon headlights.

It wasn't possible to add options to the UK spec LE's as they were all pre-built to a set specification.

(Xenon equipped cars get the headlight washers and do without the manual headlight aim dial next to the light switch).

Therefore a standard multipurpose Halfords bulb kit will be just fine.

I was under the impression that they are Xenons! They certainly look like Xenons... oh well - that's one less thing to worry about!
