Hi all,

Need to go and buy some of these Benno DVD towers from IKEA. Anyone happen to know if they'll go in the Fabia? I'm thinking laying the back seats down, front seat all the way back and run from the boot to front passenger footwell. Actually - having the back seats down blocks the front seat doesn't it? Through the gap between the front seats?

Cheers

Yes, having the seats down blocks it as you have to put the seat cushions forward and against that gap. The seat bases come out in less than 10 seconds though, and then you could fold down the seat backs as normal for the flat load area and still have the gap between the front seats.

You know what the next question is going to be then...

How do I whip out the seat bases? Sharp pull upwards at their leading edge to get them off their clips?

Think they're the same as in mine.

Pull them up at the front and swing them forward. The unclip the bars from the little clips. You will know when you see it.

You need a saloon... got some 3 metre lengths of wood in mine the other week.

Pull front up then sort flip back forward then you should see the wires which hold them in the just pull out of holes in the car floor

You swing them forward and can see the mountings, you just bend them out of the clips and job done :)

Just be a bit careful when folding the backs down, you may find that they foul the mountings and just need something putting in to make sure you don't tear or mark the seat backs.

Cheers guys - this wasn't a problem in my previous S4 avant. That and the extra 150bhp really came in handy....

Phil - these things are slated as being 202cm so with any luck I'll be able to get them in.

Ta all

I've several times carried 2400mm long pieces of wood in mine - I think this is with the back seats fully out but it's easy with just the cushions out and the front fully reclined.

I've also bought a front door and that fitted.

Remember you can readily get the one seatback out too and the other's only a socket set away from coming out.

202cm will go in fine. I've had up to 2.6M oak in mine. The limit is about 2.8M and thin in one dimension.

That's a little dodgy doing it that way. If you have to brake hard the one will probably break the windscreen.

When I got the 3 metre lengths in I put the front seat all the way down and reclined all the way back then the wood went over the top of the seat and tucked under the dash. That way it's not going to cause a issue if braking hard etc.

Where did you get the storage bage either side of the boot? are they from Skoda?

Yes - details incl. part nos and costs (in 2004) HERE - pertinent section:

Plastic Boot Dish - DMA 410 003 - £45

- expensive but fits like a glove!

RH Boot Storage Bag - DMA 410 006 - £14

- looks better in the brochure than reality

LH Boot Storage Bag - DMA 410 005 - £13

- ditto

Expensive really - I keep the spare oil in the LH one and a torch in the RH one. There's a sticker included for first aid.

Thanks chaps - fitted fine. For some reason, I didn't think about the split rear seat, so portion behind the driver's seat went down, front passenger wound all the way back and they slotted straight through.

Glad to hear it went well.

I remember once picking up a futon complete with sprung matress/base from Ikea in my Peugeot 306... that was errrm, fun?!
