Online Brokers

Featured Replies

Ive got some cracking quotes from some online brokers but im a little apprehensive about dealing in this way.

The best quote ive had so far has come from UK CarBrokers who seem to want to register it to a finance company first. He says that i will be the registered owner from the start. That its like buying a demo from a dealers.

This was closely followed by AutoEbid who allowed me to specify that i was the first owner for a fee of £286ish.

Drive the deal are surprisingly some way off on price.

Does anyone have experience of UK CarBrokers?

Or for that matter any experience of distance dealing with these Net based companies?

I'm using Drive the Deal --and so far I'm quite happy with them.

If you check out Honest Johns' site on this subject it is quite informative.

There are some pitfalls you should be aware of which could seriously damage your wallet!

This is worth a read http://www.drivethedeal.com/PreReg.asp Though it comes from one of the brokers, who you might think are talking their own book, it seems very likely that what they say about the risks of pre-registration is true.

A relative of mine bought a Skoda with DriveTheDeal and was completely satisfied.

Several here have bought from DtD and seem to have been very happy with the service they got. A few others have used other brokers and the reports have been very mixed.

I used D the D and was completely satisfied. Initial contact and deposit is with D the D and the from there on you deal with a Skoda main dealer. I would completely recommend.

As i say drive the deal are some way off on price at the moment.

A friend of mine bought a Yeti through Autoebid recently and seems happy with the process. AIUI they effectively act as a clearing house for dealers to quote for the spec you want, then once you have an acceptable quote they step out of the process and you complete the transaction directly with the winning dealer.

I used Carfile and could not fault my experience. They put you in touch with a UK dealer and there is no pre-registration involved. I got my new Yeti in a fraction of the time quoted by all my local dealers and at a substantial discount. Although the dealer was some way from home it was no problem finding a cheap flight (£30), the dealer picked me up at the airport and I then enjoyed a nice drive home in my new Yeti. All in all a great service that I would thoroughly recommend.

I bought my Yeti through Drive the Deal, having read Honest John's recommendation and saved just over £4000 without any fuss at all. I will certainly use them again.

I used Drivethedeal specifically due to the things listed in the page above (re being the first owner) but mostly because you just deal with a regular Škoda dealer, have a SUK order number from the word go and you are never left in the dark. You also NEVER deal with DtD after the first week since they are just the go between between you and the DtD dealer.

This dealer used to be Marlborough Škoda in London. The new DtD dealer is apparently in Doncaster and well, perhaps can't match the old dealer's prices which is a pity. But for ease of mind I'd happily pay a bit more and use DtD. I'm sure you would still be saving thousands vs a dealer if the prices DtD email me are anything to go by.
