Fabia vrs juddering, Advice needed!

Featured Replies

I have just bought my first vrs (2006) and I have noticed that at between 1500 and 2000 rpm the car will sometimes judder quite violently as if its stalling. It only gives two or three of these judders at one given time but the rev counter needle doesnt seem to move. Im really not sure whether it is something to do with the remap or the dual mass flywheel. The car has only done 43000 miles but has been remaped from almost new. I spoke to an ex skoda mechanic and he said one way to test if its the flywheel is to drive at 60mph in 6th gear and put your foot down and look out for a strong vibration. The car did exactly that. Was just wondering if anyone has experienced this and how well is the judgement that it could be the flywheel?

could be related to your egr valve if it's old and worn enough to leak it's prob'ly dirty enough to not close properly when you put your foot down get that sorted first and see if it still misbehaves

That flywheel theory is stupid! Dip the clutch at idle and if engine note changes its on its way out! With the clutch depressed should be silent.... Then when up it will rattle if its on its way out

Original suggested test - driving under power at low - but not ridiculously low - revs, is a good test of the DMF. A DMF will exhibit judder in the early stages of deterioration. - Don't do it too often though as this will only make it worse.

In the latter stages the almighty clattering and banging will be obvious.

When it finally brakes the destroyed gearbox casing, clutch bellhousing and puddle of oil will be the give away.

There is a known hesitation issue with the engine code BLT. See the fabia vrs web site for the fix.
