L&k Tdi Combi Lowering & Big Wheels

Featured Replies

First, not sure if this is Performance or Styling.

I am very pleased with my L&K but fancy some bigger wheels as the std 16" look a bit small - also the suspension is very soft and there's quite a bit of body roll.

I have found these replica Audi wheels on link below - quite fancy the RS4 style which can be supplied with Skoda badged centre caps - I was thinking about 17" but having spoken to them, 18" are only going to be about another

John, you should be OK (standard disclaimers apply).

Rolling diameter should be the same whatever wheel tyre combination you go with so isn't really an issue.

Yes, you can lower it that much, or more for that matter, and still be clear of the arches.

Jon

I think the 18" RS wheels are the ones that Tobmob had on his vRS, along with the Goodyear F1s. He had the Audi badges on them, but they still looked really cool.

I'll maybe try and find a link to pics later.

Do A4 wheels fit the Octavia? I thought the a4/6/8 wheels only fitted the Superb , and the A3/TT/Golf/Leon wheels fitted the Octavia/Fabia?

Thanks for the advice on the 18" wheels.

One quick question regarding offsets - I believe the std offset for Octavai is ET37 or 38.

The wheels that I am considering are 8x18 with 225/40 tyres & offset of ET30. Is this going to be OK or will it cause me problems, i.e. change steering characteristics etc.

Also, I am going to go for lowered springs, 30-40mm - as I have a TDi Combi I guess I need to be careful about getting the correct spec to suit addl engine weight? Any recommendations for type, supplier and someone to fit them - I am in London (ish) area.

As usual, thanks in advance for any advice given.

John.

John - I wouldn't lower too much , AND go for massive wheels. I don't know what rubbing issues may arise.. ?

I couldn't go any bigger than 17" with mine, and I'll shortly be lowering by 30mm. But, then again, its not an Octavia, so I'm no expert!

*awaits the rapid confirmation of that fact by every Briskodian...

Get yourself over to Micheldever (off the A30....or is it A303?.... in Hants); or get a quote from them and get Kwik Fit to price match them.

If your a member of Costco in Watofrd they do the Michelin Sport Pilots for a good price; I was quote

I don't think that is right. The offset for my 4X4 Estate with 6.5J x 16" wheels is ET42. if you are interested, there is more (general) info on wheels and tyres here.
