Spraying grill - Quick question

Featured Replies

I know there's loads of threads regarding this but I can't find the answer to my question.

Can I take off the grille, remove the chrome part and fit the rest back whilst I spray the chrome bit?

I need my car every day in the week and would prefer to take my time with it, looking at other threads the grill seems to be needed to keep the bonnet shut so i can't just leave the whole thing off?

Fairly certain that it goes back on without the chrome as the chrome simply clips back into place on the main bit.

Why spray though?

Vinyl wrap is much cheaper, and more durable.

Also can be undone in about 5 minutes.

Thanks softscoop, i'm not too sure about wrapping it, wouldn't be very confident that I would get a seamless finish, plus I will use black magic paint so I get the metallic to match the bodywork.

Yip the grille can be put back on without the chrome bit.

Just be careful with the clips, but the chrome bit should just pop off.

If you get 'solvent based' black magic paint, you can get away without laquering, as long as you leave each coat to dry tidy.

'water based' paint will need laquering.

Just a head's up before you start.
