Door Handle?

Featured Replies

Hey lads just wondering if anyone knows how do I take the DOOR HANDEL off my car as it wont open from the outside but does from the inside? And before yous ask YES the C/L (Central Locking) is working and the Electric Windows too???

The car is a 2000 SKODA OCTAVIA 1.6 GLX 5 door hatchback (FYI)

Have a read of the Haynes manual - there are some torx (and similar) bolts in the end of the door which need to be undo, but not totally removed, iirc.

However I suspect you might have to remove the internal door car and detach internal release cable. Take care if you do to ensure you attach it correctly afterwards as you might end up with a door you can't open at all!

I was looking in halfords for the haynes manual and they had none, but yeah the door wouldnt open inside or out so i had to rip the door trim off to get at the wire and the wire is opening the door when i pul it, but still not fopening when i pull the outside handel????

Can anyone think of a problem???????? by the way what does iirc mean lol?

there is 1 torx screw. thats from my memory manual!

take the what would be lock off, and you will see the 2 hooks holding it all together. there is 1 torx in the inside of the door too.

EDIT: you will see the cable slotted into the handle as well if you do this, you may find the little teeth have worn out, ot the cable has just need adjusting as its stretched.

Ok went out to the car to try and remove the handle using the link above but this is the way my handle is plus it only has 1 rubber grommet as you can see and plus i cant see anything inside to twist etc... Oh and whats the bit of wire hanging out?

Remove the grommet and loosen the screw with a TX20 driver. Pull the handle open and remove the piece that is where the lock is on the front door. Whilst holding the handle open, slide it back and out.

The wire attaches to the end of the door handle part you pull. Assuming it is still attached to the lock, it will open the door when pulled.
