Got myself an octavia VRS diesel

Featured Replies

I am awaiting delivery of a white octavia.

Never had a skoda before. Currently driving a Mazda 3 MPS. Before this I had a passat, golf vr6 and a couple of MK1 Golf cabrios.

I wanted an economical car with a bit of go. I wanted a car that was comfy and quiet on the motorway, which this was - although compared with the Mazda anything would seem less stiff! I considered and test drove Golf GTD, Lexus 200H, Passat CC, Alfa Guilietta, 3 series. I wanted a new car that wouldn't be worthless in 3 years when I come to sell it.

I drove the VRS on Friday and ordered it same day. I was very impressed. I really like 170 diesel engine, loved it in the golf and cc I drove - just didn't want to pay the significant premium for the vw badge. I think the vrs is at a really competitive price considering my partner looked at a diesel corsa for not too many thousands less.

I was a little disappointed that the manual had no multi function steering wheel or Bluetooth option. On a car like this I really don't undrstand how this is not standard. Looked into getting the basic plus installed asap I think, although the local firm to me in south Manchester want 485 to fit it.

Any tips for a new owner? Do you have to hold back for certain ammount of miles?

Would folks recommend getting the gap insurance? I didn't get it with the Mazda, but a lot of people say its a decent safety measure.

Hello Nator and welcome along

Just make sure you don't give it the full beans for a few hundred miles and then build up gradually however, with mine I find the most rapid progress is made with the rev needle between 2k and 3.5k revs so you're nowhere near red lining it.

Couldn't help you regarding gap insurance sorry.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hi mate and welcome....I was "this close" to buying a new MPS last summer but there didn't seem to be a deal to be done...

I have found this on a couple of occasions with Mazda dealers ?

Instead I stayed with the safe option and got another Skoda.

You will enjoy the Octy vRS I am sure.

List on my MPS was nearing 22k. I paid 14.5k for mine with 0% finance for 3 years with a 50% deposit. Great deal I thought. For that from Perry's Preston. It has been a cracking car. I got a good price from the skoda dealer for the part ex - so been very pleased with the Mazda.

I'm looming forwRd to the skoda, although I'm a little unsure whether I should have got the DSG!
