VRS injector misfiring

Featured Replies

i booked my car into a skoda dealership where i bought it from, gave them my car first thing teusday morning - with the belief they would look at the warning light{exhaust system - which lead to intermittent power loss- look for my other post} that came up before the snow- and give me it back on teusday even. They did not supply me with a car (mine or a curtosey car) for wednesday - which i needed a car. Is this breach of contract (warranty or 3 year servincing deal?). I contacted then on teusday, asking can i have my car back, they explained that it needed to stay overnight, wateva, then i asked for a coutesy car, apparently they could not get a courtesy car till next week, then at the end of the conversation, she said if the issue isnt resolved tomorrow then they will get me a cortesy car.

Wednesday came and went, with me asking about the courtesy car, then she said we can get you one tomorow, so i said ok ill be there 1st thing, she said the customer that has it, wount return it till 10AM. I said i wont be able to get to the dealership as i am not local, and she said fine we will try and get a driver to you. So aniother day withiout a car. Thursday (thismorning, well asfternoon) at 12AM (midday), she contacts me that the issue that has come up on the system is a misfiring injector, but which they cannot replicate, so want to keep it over. So i asked about the courtesy car, and she said unfortunately they do not have a driver (maybe ill) to get it to me.

So she says there is two options, i get my car back which is potentially still faulty (however still drivable - well it was before i took it there), or do i take the courtesy car, but i have to travel to the dealership which is not local at all and looking very unlikely.

Im very disapointed with the service the garage is treating me with, lies and being push from pillar to post. For what i thought was a minor ECU update and maybe sensor failure, turned out to be many days without a car period!

As stated before is this breach of contract by them, as i brought the car from them, new, with the 3 year sevice plan, which is also costing me £1000 over 3 years.

Cheers for the advice in advance, Max.

Not sure if it's a breach of contract, but phone them back ask for them to deliver a car by the end of the day, they will have resource available, 1 service guy and maybe a mechanic, sales person, manager or receptionist even, just to follow them and bring them back.

I'd also phone Skoda UK customer services, there number is about here an on the website, and let them know who disappointed you are, they should get the ball rolling. It's not good enough to keep fobbing you off day after day.

Yeah, that's poor.

As mentioned above, call Skoda C/S and make sure they're aware of it. Try to keep calm, but do mention you are disappointed.

They're no obliged to give you a courtesy car unless the car is booked in for warranty work and you've booked a courtesy car. If its for a service you have to pay £5 iirc...

If you didn't book the car in and just dropped it off I can see why they can't give you one when they're booked out - they only have so many to give out each day.

Put it this way - my car is booked in on monay for 3 days - got a courtesy car booked. If I had just turned up and left the car monday saying it has a fault fix it i'd not be getting a courtesy car...

i did book, the day before and they said thats fine, it is work under warranty, i thoiught it would be done in a day so i thoguht no need for coutesy car, but as they did not, i was left without ac car on wednesday, which i needed it for...

For an update, they have identifuied it was an ijector and/or sprakplug issue, ofwhich they said they have identified it was the spark plaugs and are getting them changed under warranty, and finally on thursday morning i got a courtesy car, which is an octavia TSI. Im not as annoyed as i was the previous couple of days, still think the service was pretty poor to begin with, not gettin me a courtesy car

Sticking to the "legal" side of this, I also think that you don't have a case here. Warranty work is one thing but courtesy cars are another. One does not automatically imply the other. You should have specifically requested it beforehand in case the fault took longer than a day to repair. When I booked an appointment just to have the Oil Temp option turned on (probably a 10min work) I had asked for a courtesy car during the "repair". They said we will not have any courtesy car this week so I moved my appointment for the nearest day that they could give me a courtesy car even If it was for just 1 hour.

Although, even though they were not "obliged" to provide you a car, they should have done everything possible to give you one even from the first day, especially to such a "fresh" customer who bought a car from them. It's things like this that one does even though he's not obliged to do them, that make a difference between a true professional and a temporary guy in the business.

If I car has a suspected injector fault we have to swap the injectors around to trace which one is faulty, this is not a five minute job on a vRS. Also parts will be next day order, just so your aware.

Fair enough i got my VRS back today, i left the car having done 220 miles on the tank of feul, and picked it up with 305 miles, (and 5 mile range). I know they 'test ran' the car to find the fault, or atleast try to replicate the fault, but is it reasonable for them to 'test run' for 85 miles in 3 days!? that just seems over excessive to me. Maybe they took it for lunch - i would not be surprised! Also not knowing the area, thankfully my brother did and he directed me to a local tesco with the range showin 0 miles...

The cheeky thing is that they said, that its an unwritten law, that (when) i got the courtesy car, as a good will, you should replace the feul that you used on the courtesy car. I thought fair enough, so i put in £5 which was sufficient to take it to a level i picked it up with. How contradictory is that!?

Also on a side note, the car is workin good now but i have lost electricity to my steering wheel now - i first knew when i could not paddle shift, then realised that the + and - were not light on the paddles, then i tried the horn, did not work, and the wheel on the steering wheel which changed the volume, also not working. So im geussing this could be a loose connection, or a fuse that has gone? can anyone confirm anything about the electricity to the steering wheel? such as is it on it's own fuse?

God it doesn't just rain... it pours as they say...

lol - they've disconnected something - another trip back mate i'm afraid.

I think 85 miles is a bit much, even for 3 days... and its harsh that they use your fuel and not refill but you have to put some in theirs!
