vrs front seat removal

Featured Replies

Hi,

Has anyone taken out a vrs fl front seat? Need the drivers seat out of mine but am unsure about precautions regarding the airbag.

Cheers

OK, not done this on an Octy but have on other vehicles. General advice is disconnect battery first then just unplug as required. You might get a warning when you plug it back in which will necessitate removal with VCDS / VAS.

HAving been in an accident recently and suffered a fractured skull from the airbag I would treat them with the utmost respect!

Dropped into the local dealers today to get their advice, said the same regarding the battery but reckoned i shouldnt have a problem with any warning lights when reinstalled. The reason the seat is coming out is to replace the squab foam which has collapsed on the bolster, not a warranty issue according to the dealer.

When I replaced my elegance seats with Golf seats all I did was make sure the keys weren't in the ignition and removed/re-fitted the seats.

You shouldn't get the airbag light on providing the ignition stays turned off while the airbags in the seats are disconnected.

Go back and speak to the dealer, and get Skoda UK involved if required, a number of others have had the same problem and HAVE had theirs fixed under warranty, so it's recognised somewhere.

I have read some of the posts concerning seats being repaired at the dealerships and a the results seemed to range from just as bad as before to ok. We have a trim department where i work so have decided its probably better to pay the 70 odd quid for a new foam and get a professional to do the job rather than a mechanic in a garage.
