Just fitted...

... a Dragon Digital tuning box to the car. Holy feck. o_0

It's a bit 'sledgehammer' in its initial delivery, but throughout the rev range it's much stronger.

Very impressed for the initial outlay. Hopefully it won't burst my engine in the time it takes to fit a different intercooler and map the bugger.

They make a difference dont they! Out of curiosity is it one with a round connector or a sort of oval connector?

Dead round. Plugs in right of the glow plugs, near the battery. Fitted it without using any instructions- really was quite simple!

i got a digital 1 off my bora from TDI tuning in essex. Things are mental! no longer needed as i have a petrol. shame its just sitting there now as its only a few months old. ;) They are good tho, Plug and play and you get more mpg if you adjust the grub screw. lovely bit of kit. i change my exhaust to a turbo back and it deffo made a difference with a little adjustment.

Do you want to sell it then? PM me if you do.

I've got a Dragon box which I never fitted as it didn't fit my Octavia II. I kept it as I've always had VAG cars, so thought I'd use it at some point, but I'm happy to receive a PM from anyone interested.

Having now spent a full weekend with this, here are my thoughts...

1) exceptional power increase for something so simple.

2) now has a much wider, useable powerband- from 1.8k to 4k, it pulls like a train!

3) the point where it appears to kick in is frustratingly stepped- almost impossible to get a smooth changeover.

4) still afraid my engine's going to burst.

I'd be more worried about the clutch than the engine!

Already had an SMF conversion done before I did any tuning shenanigans. ;)

Sell it and buy a remap :)

As long as it's not constantly going over 300ft/lb torque a standard clutch should be fine (if thats what the SMF conversion came with). The Mk1 Fabia VRS guys on here tend to swap to an uprated clutch like this when it's over 300ft/lb though:
