Superb II - oil pump failure

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've has a couple of Superb's over the years although I had a very nasty wake-up call when the oil pump went on my old 2007 Superb Christmas 2010 which resulted in a big bill and a very fast trade-in.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I noticed after the fact that failing oil pumps with catastrophic consequences is a common problem with certain engine codes.

My replacement car, a 2008 Mondeo, is truly shocking compared to the comfort and ride quality I had with the Superb although I'm somewhat anxious about getting another Superb for the obvious reasons!

Could someone please confirm whether the Superb II 2008 onwards has the same oil pump problems - I've been to the local Skoda dealer and was greeted with a total denial that a problem ever existed!

Many thanks

Welcome.

The only engine that suffers with this problem in the Superb's is the 2 litre PD140 in the MKI.

Earlier 1.9's are bomb proof and the later ones fitted to the MKII (2008 onwards) do not report to have any troubles either.

What Gizmo68 wrote.. only the PD140, not 2008 MKII and on wards.

stay clear of the (bss engine)

And only the PD140 in the MK1, the MK2 has a totally different version of the PD140 (BMP Engine code in MK2). The MK2 in any version does not have the oil pump drive issue.

stay clear of the (bss engine)

Which isn't in the Superb II
