Sponge Bits

Featured Replies

After recently purchasing a VRS rear spoiler (thanks Paul) I today went to Horners of Manchester to order the spray paint and the small sponge/rubber bits that go between the spoiler and the boot. Spray paint - not a problem but the sponge bits only come with the actual spoiler!!! They said if it was a rover (that they also sell) it would not be a problem but Skoda don't do it like that.

My question is: - What should I use to fit in the gap????

By the way for anyone that is interested have sanded and done 2 coats of primer, lets see how this works out!!!

Make your own sponge bits using a, er, sponge? :)

Rob,

Cheers for the advice, but don't be silly it's that really compact sticky stuff that I don't really know the name of! I might just get some for a rover n see if I can cut it down to shape. Why can't Skoda do things properly??

Is it actually an adhesive compound for sticking the spoiler to the boot, or is it just to stop

the spoiler from rubbing against the paintwork?

Rob.

I've got some quite wide (approx 40mm) by about 2-3mm thick spongey mounting tape at home. It's double sided unfortunately and made by the 'Duck' tape people. Couldn't you use that and cut to shape??
