Skoda Octavia reverse sensors - operation

Featured Replies

Hello

Just a query on the reversing sensors on a 2010/2011 elegance and the BOLERO system

I looked online and couldn't find any examples

How exactly does it work ?

i.e. when you put it in reverse does the screen automatically come up with the visual aid and then when you reverse it just beeps ?

And then when you take it out of reverse, does the screen just go back to normal ?

When you put it in to reverse, the screen automatically comes up, and bleeps. I normally have the radio on, so the volume goes down a jot, and when you finish reversing, it goes back to normal.

When in reverse, screen shows a representation of the rear of the car and then indicates how's close to something each of the sensors is with a "bar".

When you're really close, the bar turns red.

EDIT: do beaten to it, but see

Mine work well - until it rains. My dealer can never find anything wrong as by the time I find the time, it's (they) have dried out.I have a cunning alternate, though. On th near side I have a mirror to look into and a similar one on the drivers side. I can even wind the window down - but then they work when dry and I might get wet when they don't!

I use the visual aid almost more than the audible aid for parking, as its great for showing which side of the car the obstacle is. I'm currently driving a hire car whilst waiting for a new company car, and the hire car doesn't have parking sensors at all. You don't realise quite how much you rely on them until you don't have them!

What the difference between the visual aid and the audible aid ?

I see the elegance model im looking at has this description : "acoustic rear parking sensors"

Does that mean it only has an audible aid and no visual aid

You have visual and audible at the same time.

Are you for real? You Really don't know the difference between what visual and audible???

Ah wud u relax Preston 334

Description is "acoustic Rear parking aid" which only suggests sound ( audible aid ), so was just wondering if the "visual aid" was a separate system entirely

And was on about the operation of them, not the bloody meaning of the words !

Think of it like sonar, each sensor sends out a pulse which will then be detected when reflected off something, the closer the object, the quicker the pulses - the visualisation is just a computer turning the info into a visual representation! ;)

You will get both visual and audible on an Elegance. The Bolero shows the visual, the beeper is the audible. Both combine to be the "acoustic parking system".
