rough price on a full service

Featured Replies

hey guys,

anyone have a rough idea how much a full service, (cam belt change, the lot) from their local skoda dealer?

Judging by the bill that came with my car from the previous owner, £750 (4 year/50k mile service incl cam belt).

Wow! I paid about £400-£450 at Unit 18! Jesus that's a hefty mark up.

Cambelt cost me £225, then £142 for a 20k service - so £367 in total. This was at a local VAG specialist.

£738 from my local skoda dealer, which includes major service, csm belt and water pump changed

Depending on which service is involved, £380 for the cambelt plus between £150 and £325 for the service - at local Skoda dealers.

Out of interest, sorry not to hijack this but along the same lines, anyone in the Northants area do VW services and recommended ?

I've used Unit 18 before for services and cam chain replacement but since moving out to MK is perhaps just a bit far for me sadly except for more major jobs which is a shame as I'd definitely use again.

What kind of comparison on price for minor service / oil change only too ? I've pretty much gone off the idea of chucking money down on dealer services, last time I asked them for a joke how much for a service

(no brake fluid, no cam chain replacement, just a standard oil service) they quoted around £400

Balls to them, my vrs is for life and I can handle oil services myself...and given how often 10k comes up for me, its not much problem but I'd rather not if I can keep my hands off

Anyone use Lion / Bahnstorm / APS in Brackley or any other independants that could be recommended ?
